I haven't done any of the deep reading, but I've always found someone saying "X breaks immersion" to be absolute bullshit because, while it may be true for you, that line varies wildly

Talking uncritically about "immersion" as something universal simply means one hasn't played much across other play cultures.

This whole time, I’ve been writing, roleplaying, drawing, taking dance and voice lessons, all sorts. I lost pretty much everything during the lockdown. Lost my job. Couldn’t afford to stay in town/was too scared to leave my mom alone.
My mom is an RN. It was my plan B. And I love it.

I started as a classically trained violist because it was the one thing that I was consistently good at with some effort, but I was always drawn to storytelling and tried the composing thing, too. I made it all the way to grad school despite my rampant undx, unrx adhd. And then the pandemic happened
