Every day, ICE commits human rights violations. No amount of “reform” can fix an agency built on fear, family separation, and racial profiling. We must abolish ICE. Completely.

Trump is appealing the judicial order to pay full SNAP benefits by tomorrow.

He’s spending tax payer dollars going back to court to try and avoid giving folks money they are legally owed.

He’s starving 42 million people because to him they are leverage.

It’s enraging.

So it looks like we’re looking at a March, 2027 release for A DARK AND NARROW HOUSE.

A bit later than I wanted, but I hope it will be worth the wait. (Beta readers so far seem to be enjoying it)

Very kind, Martin. Thanks for the readership

MD Pakistani edition is a collectible at this point. The Hachette Indian is rare in the US.

But good news! Putnam (Penguin RH) is bringing out a North America edition in 2028–something I’m really looking forward to.
A used copy of Midnight Doorways by @usmantm.bsky.social came across the buy counter today.. I immediately grabbed it. If this book was available in the US, not only would it be in the section, it would be faced out with a shelf talker. Great stories. Highly recommended

NEW: Mississippi Democrats broke the Republican Party's supermajority in the state Senate tonight for the first time since 2011.

It came as Democrats flipped 2 Senate seats and 1 House seat.

“Mississippi just broke the supermajority—and the people have taken back their power,” the party says.

As noted today: Democrats are clearly winning the politics of the shutdown, and its Senators aiming to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory are being absurd.

With all the excitement about the election I don’t want this story to get lost. This morning 8 car wash workers in Boston were kidnapped by federal agents in the largest workplace raid in the area in recent memory.

The details are horrifying.

Here's another bit of conventional wisdom Zohran completely blew away: His speech was at well above a 10th-grade level. It was complex, erudite, punctuated by deep and fluent references. You don't have to condescend to voters with baby talk! Part of re-establishing norms is speaking like an adult.

I think the two most imp things Mamdani and tn’s blue wave have given us are hope and courage.

We shall not go gently into that good night

We shall TURN THE VOLUME UP!

My god this is for real one of the most incredible speeches I’ve ever seen by an elected US politician: ‘And if there is any way to terrify a despot, it is to dismantle the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power. This not only how we stop Trump, it’s how we stop the next one.’
Mamdani: "We can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves. After all, if anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him."

This is incredibly important:

we must frame tonight as a resounding victory — an electoral landslide, a mandate from the universe itself

and as a repudiation of MAGA, of Trump, and of vichy democrats

we must be relentless, we must not shut up

Came here to say this, but Jamelle Bouie has this covered. 👇
When the Democratic tent includes candidates like Spanberger and Mamdani, there is no crisis, or fight, for the party. IT’S A COALITION, NOT A POINT ESTIMATE.
i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist
the other thing about this is that there is no reason to pit these candidates against each other? each are good fits for their respective electorates and each shows the value of vigorous campaigns focused on the stated material problems of voters.

Which youth?
WOW. 81% of women 18-29 voted for Mamdani, 80% for Sherril, and 78% for Spanberger.

Gen Z women aren't playing around.
