This has been probably the most interesting 26 days I’ve had in my professional career. I remain dedicated to Columbia University, to higher education, and to doing whatever I can to help. I continue to believe Dr. Katrina Armstrong is an inspirational leader.

Executive wants to frame the NIH indirects cut as $4B in savings.
But given that NIH returns $2.5 on every $1 investment, this would actually cost US economy a net $6 BILLION (per year!). Not to mention the human costs of wrecking education and research sectors and the communities they serve.

Direct Economic Contributions
NIH directly supports the economy through investments in research institutions and job formation.

Reading applications for summer internships. the words “insatiable” “unquenchable” and “journey” seem to be this year’s ChatGPT suggestions to include in personal statements. Also, cutting and pasting from our own websites with the description of what they’d get from the program. #sigh

And you may ask yourself, "do I have to go to work today?"
And you may ask yourself, "Am I right, am I wrong?
And you may say to yourself, "My God, how much cheese have I eaten?”

Currently sitting under a blanket with all the windows open and fans on as my husband and daughter thought they could bake and have somehow burnt everything and our place is filled with smoke
having exactly (1) day out of the year where every amateur chef in America attempts to cook a giant bird and not fuck it up is, honestly, a wonderful and hilarious tradition
