So here’s to making 2026 a better year. For science. For our country. For the American people.

We have the momentum. The resistance is growing. Let’s make 2026 the year we turned the tide.

Is hermitting in the highlands an option? Cuz that’s what I’d be doing.
What would you do if you had no financial limitations whatsoever? Can you all honestly say you'd stay here and "fight"? Some of you, maybe many of you, would just choose to live the rest of your life in comfort and enjoyment. It's a rational thing to do.
I can't tell what I'd do.

Complaining about rigged elections while rigging even this vote is pretty shameless
Exclusive: The Kennedy Center adopted bylaws earlier this year that limited voting to presidentially appointed trustees, a move that preceded a unanimous decision this month by board members installed by President Donald Trump to add his name to the center.
Kennedy Center changed board rules months before vote to add Trump’s name
The cultural center said only trustees appointed by the president could vote, barring other members, including Democrats who hold seats, from decisions.

#Florida dementia patient screws over #Florida tribe.
President Trump's first vetoes of his second term were two bills which were unanimously approved by the House and Senate.

A bill to deliver clean water to SE Colorado was sponsored by Rep. Lauren Boebert R-CO and a flood control bill for a tribe in Florida was sponsored by Rep. Carlos Gimenez R-FL.

All based on a “gotcha” video claiming that 3 daycares had no kids. One hadn’t opened yet for the day; one is actually closed. Dude arrived with no I.D. No call ahead. They DIDN’T LET HIM IN!

The fraud they’re referencing was investigated & prosecuted by the Biden DOJ. The ringleader was white.
This is monstrous. He wants to turn the residents of the state against Walz and against the Somali-American population.
BREAKING

The Trump administration says it has frozen all childcare payments to Minnesota in the aftermath of allegations of fraud by some in the Somali community.

Important: allegations along these lines have existed for years, which has resulted in prosecutions starting with the Biden DOJ.

Editorial: A badly misguided honor for Charlie Kirk
Florida’s effort to memorialize Charlie Kirk ignores many other civil rights icons who go unrecognized for their good works.

before I started my lab, I asked several senior PIs what their one piece of advice would be and PI pointedly said: “Know when to drop a project.” And that advice has been invaluable in my lab. There are always other projects to follow up on, dropping one isn’t a failure in and of itself.

note that the millionaire's tax in MA, which generated similar dire predictions, has been a great success without causing an exodus. And for the ones who DO leave, I say don't let the door hit you on the way out
There could be a 5% wealth tax for billionaires on the California ballot next fall. These guys gain and lose that much of their fortunes in a single day in the stock market all the time. Why does this tax make them so mad they'd threaten to move?
