so, uh, we gonna have that convo about how some of the same people in the epstein files are the ones ordering kids get grabbed without their parents around?

yes...? no...?
I know it's kinda stating the obvious, but:

A lot of the same people who were fairly open about their totalitarian leanings vetted and hired the current crop of ICE

A lot of the same people in the Epstein files are passing bathroom laws and will vet and hire the genital inspectors those laws imply

ideally this will cause whole bunches of people, particularly their students, to seriously rethink the work they put out. specifically the ones who were celebrated researchers in, say, social science, psychology, econ.

Ideally...
Academics vying for a spot in Epstein‘s world. There are so many. I feel the need to make a thread, so I don’t keep confusing them. 1/

Oh I see they're supposed to be Real Men, but instead they're sucking Trump's dick, because they're faggy faggy queer gay gays who are emasculated, and that's BAD. They should be more heterosexual.

Fuck all of you.

A gaiter is not a mask. ICE agents don’t wear respirators and neither do most white libs and leftists.

pretty classic abuse tactic that's gonna get deployed a lot in the next few.

and it's really simple to undermine. we've all worked unknowingly with abusers. the unknowing part is the important bit. notice the word that's not present in mark's adorable little attempt at collective guilt.
I feel like someone’s gotta say something, so I guess it’s going to be me. I’m 100% certain that I either know, have met, or have sought meetings with people who have done horrible things in their lives, too. How about y’all? Association is not causation, and it's not guilt — of anything. (1/8)

Best piece of advice I got from a guy who did two years in federal prison is to never type anything you wouldn't want read back to you in court
The FBI was able to access Washington Post reporter Hannah Natanson's Signal messages because she used Signal on her work laptop. The laptop accepted Touch ID for authentication, meaning the agents were allowed to require her to unlock it. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

another 'war on science' author in epstein's emails, if you can believe it
I guess the best-available defense to this sort of thing—lots of friendly emails and visits with someone recently convicted of procuring a child for the purposes of prostitution, I mean—is something like “He seemed to have lots of money and connections and I would have liked a little piece of that”

personally i'm not shocked, or mildly surprised really. gonna take a loooong time for lefties to process "we've spent years railing against the right wing evil child-eater conspiracy theories, and it turns out there really were evil child-eaters just not that way".
i am shocked at how pathetic the intellectual response has been on social media to the Epstein files.

these files, even if only a fraction are true, indicates that Trump not only engaged in the raping and selling of children but was involved in horrific crimes against humanity.

lotta people still confused how 'ideal victim' works. alex pretti was written by aaron sorkin. cis-white medic, visibly disarmed, so why this isn't *the* tipping point.

easy, ideal victims aren't fictions of the perpetrator, it's other potential victims distancing the one that got got.
👀 Every Senate Democrat + Collins and Murkowski just voted for the Bernie Sanders amendment to repeal the $75 billion in additional ICE funding under Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The measure failed 49-51.

aaron swartz was a computer wiz who helped develop stuff like rss and markdown. in 2013 he self-deleted facing $1mil in fines and 35yrs in prison for downloading the jstor database to a laptop. how different history would be if he just lied that he was training an ai:
AI companies illegally downloaded & destroyed millions of books

the number of people who conveniently ignored all those dating advice guys got famous off of tv shows, or that tate's hussler university was an mlm amazes me. they're selling an aesthetic just like ballerina farm. it's recruitment marketing and they know their audience.
"the left failed men" arguments are pushed to hide the simple reality that Republicans are the party of male supremacy and it's attractive to a lot of men and boys.
"The left failed men because they give bad dating advice"

I have a hot take that maybe getting dating advice from the realm of politics is a bad idea to begin with.

It's not the job of people advocating for Universal Healthcare and a higher minimum wage to help you get laid. 🤷

of course white people immediately turned unc from something playful and nuanced into an insult. elder abuse is pretty much their entire political strategy.

sitting here wondering how much of long covid is long covid, and how much is that up until covid they weren't actually checking whether the 'averages' for cognitive decline or adhd were what researchers previously expected to be normal because nobody had really kept up.

it fascinates me how euro-descended people always need walking paths to make sense of archaeology like Hopewell or Poverty Point. a sad extension of the Alaskan landbridge and claiming Jamaica was unpopulated until columbus.

they've had canals and waterways in europe for forever, this isn't hard.

one makes him immature, the other more accurately paints him as malicious. why keep doing these pricks unforced favors?

something about specifically the story of nada in the sandman series (and books) feels like the purest most distilled version of blackface that could be reasonably possible. short of the tech from 'get out' becoming reality of course.
