Eric Adams has a mid-20s approval rating and it’s pretty consistent across demographics. Where’s he going exactly?
Mr. Adams said in an interview on Thursday that he would campaign with Mr. Cuomo in neighborhoods where the mayor is most popular, and push people to vote for the former governor.

"we" remember just fine. It's just the NYT opinion page editors who are apparently completely ignorant of history
Do we really have such abysmal collective memory that we need to be *told* that the right has a history of censoring free speech? Have we really swallowed so much reactionary-centrist bullshit about "cancel culture" that we've forgotten that primal political truth?

They’re using American tax dollars to fund infrastructure in Argentina because that’s where they’re all going to flee when we kick them out of office
After announcing a $20 billion bailout of Argentina, the White House now says it's pausing $18 billion in funding for NYC infrastructure projects

This is the most beautiful and heartbreaking action by these bystanders.
This video of Chicagoans intervening to save a man from being abducted off the streets by ICE is making the rounds on Instagram.

Community action works.

Exactly, the Dems' "condescension problem" is almost entirely a creation of right-wing media.
Honestly think the only way to solve the condescension problem is to stop insisting that we have one. It's very obvious why your opponent would call you condescending for being smart and right; stand up for yourself!
Klein is also obsessed with solving Democrats’ “condescension problem” but it’s not condescending to talk about how your political opponents are wrong! That’s kind of how it works.

This piece gets at something that I've been struggling to articulate: We've seen this exact push-pull before. When Republicans were out of power in the 1990s they invented "political correctness" to pretend they were being censored. Then they went right back to censoring once they had power again.

Sam’s Law of Media:

The media treats Democrats as the only political actors with agency, responsible for everything happening

Republicans, by contrast, are treated like zoo animals: odd, fascinating, but never to be judged and, perhaps more importantly, never responsible for their own decisions

question: why does the media treat democrats as the only ones with any agency? republicans have a trifecta, they can prevent a shutdown whenever they want

more important question: what is wrong with Alex Thompson?

kudos to ALL the comedians who have spoken out forcefully against this, including Marc Maron (who remains one of our greatest national treasures), Leslie Liao, and yes, even that conservative dipshit Shane Gillis. Pete Davidson's agreement to this "festival" especially is just disgusting, C'MON MAN.
Saudi comedy festival draws big names and backlash
Human rights advocates and some comics say the festival, at which Bill Burr, Louis C.K., Dave Chappelle and Kevin Hart are performing, whitewashes abuses.

EXACTLY
People were talking on here the other day about what a good guy Klein is interpersonally. He's thoughtful, generous and always tries to see the best in people.

You can see that at play here. He simply cannot accept the fact that Kirk was acting in bad faith.
September 29, 2025 at 2:21 PM
Exactly.
This was the most fascinating exchange to me. Coates asks whether a liberal going to Evangelical churches and selectively editing exchanges to mock Christians would be "doing politics the right way."

Klein says it would if it were done completely differently.

Reading this, I'm seeing something I call the swerve

there are people, usually with a high level of in-born privilege, who *will not see certain things.* They just *won't.* And if you put it in front of their faces they will do ANYTHING to insist it's not there.

Klein keeps swerving.

Coates says Black Americans have stories about relatives who were lynched or had to flee and that a life free of political violence is not in reach in his time

Klein:
"Sometimes I think that having a historical scope that wide can make the present too deterministic."

They lynched a kid last week.
This was revealing. Worth reading. The basic demand is that Coates spend less time thinking/writing his true feelings and more time playing political strategist. Klein asks him over and over him to do Dem strategy; he says no, over and over. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/o...
