the right loves #adoption for all the reasons you would guess: an “alternative” to abortion; an alternative to social support for people in crisis; a general disregard for human rights; MONEY; profit-seeking from gross social & material inequality.

the problem is that liberals love adoption too.

Native American Rights Fund is using treaty obligations to sue the Trump admin over cuts to the Department of Education. Under the U.S. constitution, treaties are the supreme law of the land and in many, the federal government promised tribes it would provide their citizens with an education.

The Army Corps of Engineers is using the Trump exec order declaring an “energy emergency” to fast-track of the Line 5 Enbridge oil project. Six tribes cooperated and provided input that the Corps will likely ignore. The tribes have withdrawn their participation in protest.

Natives are citizens of Tribes - it is a political category legally (not a racial category) - just like being a citizen of your state. Programs serving Tribes & Natives are constitutional, trust responsibility, & treaty intergovernmental relationships with Tribal governments & their Tribal citizens.
