This allows Trump (via DOJ) to use taxpayer money to bribe eight GOP Senators. It's that simple, there's no other way to describe it.

And where's the compensation for people injured by the Trump admin's unlawful conduct through DHS & DOGE?

Take a bow, @schumer.senate.gov, you did this.

Anyway...Dems need to break out of the impulse to see 200 white people protesting against Covid restrictions as "the voice of the people which we must heed" while seeing 10X as many people protesting racist police violence as "a niche special interest group that's out of step with real Americans."

When you read about the unspeakable things new federal appellate judge Emil Bove is going to do—he’ll make Jim Ho and Stuart Kyle Duncan look like bleeding hearts—remember that it is *Democrats* who held the seat open for Trump to fill. Not Republicans: Democrats.
Emil Bove's confirmation was only possible because Democrats caved to a vile right-wing smear campaign of Adeel Mangi, who would have been the first Muslim appeals court judge, when Biden nominated him for the same seat last year. Absolutely disgraceful. Bove's confirmation is on them, too.
The Cowardice of Senate Democrats Made Emil Bove’s Confirmation Possible
Senate Democrats could have confirmed Biden nominee Adeel Mangi to the Third Circuit last year. They caved to a disgraceful right-wing smear campaign instead.

Yup. As I’ve said before, the right’s constant sense of grievance even as they control every branch of government stems from the fact that the base doesn’t really want specific policy reforms. They’re angry about cultural trends the government can’t really do anything about in a free society.
This is a great example of how conservative grievances are with society overall rather than government. It’s not even like a teacher told her; another student did! The only way around it is to police society so much that no child anywhere could learn about lesbians from anywhere and tell their kid.
This entire story is just so batshit insane

“my kid learned about lesbians so now I’m gonna go and commit war crimes”

It gets more galling everyday that Justice Amy Cooney Barnett lectured Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson on not replacing an Imperial Executive with an Imperial Court. An Imperial Court does not apparently feel the need to explain itself with an opinion at all.
Yet another seismic decision fundamentally reshaping our system of government issued on the shadow docket with not even a single word of explanation.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court allows the Trump administration to move forward with the abolition of the Department of Education. It gives no explanation for its order. All three liberals dissent. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

I am heir to 2,400 year old living traditions of self-government and historical inquiry, which have weathered two millennia of setbacks and long nights.

They are heirs of a 10-minute old rebrand of a murderous 20th century ideology that failed almost immediately when tried.

So, yeah, contempt.
As much as people like to dunk on liberal elitism, “these Nazi punks are crass idiots and I refuse to bow to my lessers” is, for me at least, necessary for morale and stiffens my backbone when I feel like giving up.

If an administration can get away with falsifying social security records to target individuals, then there is no bottom. There's also no such thing as a "citizen" because that can be changed with a couple button presses too. Mark your SSN and passport as dead then ship you to El Salvador.
what must be understood is that once *some* people can be declared legally dead because they are undocumented, *any* people can be declared legally dead because … well for anything
Exclusive: Two days after the Social Security Administration purposely and falsely labeled 6,100 living immigrants as dead, security guards arrived at the office of a well-regarded senior executive in the agency’s Woodlawn, Maryland, headquarters.

We are seeing a very clear pattern of banning things that make Trumpists and their kids feel bad:

- Books about colonialism, slavery and segregation
- Challenging ideas about gender
- Protests against genocide
- Science generally

It's a blanket ban on hard feelings. They called us snowflakes.

this is however a common mistake. you don't want a larger more powerful army if you're Trump. You want powerful extensive unaccountable cops. And he has that.
typically when you are preparing to invade another country in order to annex it by force and also to potentially crush civilian dissent, you want the military to be bigger, rather than smaller
