A lawmaker who thinks that we should have peer pressure rules ... why did she want to get a job making laws (which were followed here) when she doesn't want to achieve things via laws??

What exactly would disapproval do other than make a couple people feel better without changing anything?

I'm 53. I'm ready to retire the 9/11 stuff. Definitely was scary at the time - definitely past time to stop worrying about Muslims and the war on terror, which seemed to create more terror than it resolved.

Always thought it was mullet-lite for the mullet curious who want some party in the back but don't want to be seen as southern or a teens-twentysomething.

Conservatives are so hierarchical in terms of power, they really seem to blur the lines between government and culture and religion. It's just power.
November 16, 2025 at 8:01 PM
No, it doesn't mean more.

You don't actually have to internalize marketing, especially when it's trying to be intentionally insulting/elitist.
November 16, 2025 at 7:07 PM
No one is this dumb.

Dems seem to notice that the media holds Republicans to a different standard. See, eg, the NYT had a good amount of these emails when they published the "but her emails" crap. See also, the Major Questions Doctrine applies to Biden but the Unitary Executive applies to Trump.

Dems should (but won't) do something purely for show & politics, like retroactively impeaching Garland. If leagues can retroactively take wins away from a sports team, then the US can retroactively take away the honorable end of his career.

"How many arrests were made out of those 186,000 fraudulent accounts?"

If the answer is under 186,000: "Why not more?"

Oh, you mean the list held names of people who had died, not that the service was being abused.
November 13, 2025 at 6:57 PM
Yeah man, so cool!

Really government and the flight for democracy is about whether you can dunk on people who care.

You're so cool!

Imagine if you had decency to have values instead of mockery. Imagine.

But you're soooooo 😎

My dude, you can learn anything you want on YouTube. I have a playlist of cooking technique videos that I refer to occasionally.

You absolutely can find shit if you look.

If you can't change the message why not kill the messenger? Right?
November 11, 2025 at 12:09 AM
I too get angry at people who describe authoritarianism. Why not? It's a waste to get angry at the authoritarians, they don't care, but regular people do.

So, remember, if you want to be angry at the court that's giving away democracy, get angry at people describing it instead!

Like children, pets will push. You can push back and be in control, or you can let the kids/pets decide.

Like Chuck, it's a choice and you get the rewards you choose to put effort into.
November 10, 2025 at 9:27 PM
Absolutely. Where do I sign up?

What am I prepared to sacrifice in the fight for regular Constitutional order instead of a march towards authoritarianism? More than a month's pay.
November 10, 2025 at 6:33 PM
Yes, it does pay to submit to authoritarianism. Good point, Sarah.

The Baileys.

They will rest easier. That's the upside.
November 10, 2025 at 2:35 AM
They welcome DMV boos. Plays well to "real Americans" and gives the conservatives further reason to believe they are victims who must bring half the USA to heel.
November 10, 2025 at 2:31 AM
And what makes you think that giving the keys to Republicans will mean that those things will be more likely to be funded?

Republicans have already said that any deal will be done with the expectation that they'll rescind parts of the budget.

Surrender some hostages to free others?

Stop and consider that this might be not literal.

What if, and I'm just spitballing here, it was metaphorical. She took care of San Francisco like a woman-coded parent ... you know, a mom.
November 7, 2025 at 5:13 PM
I think it became more explicit during covid.

Those conference call days are also how we got a toilet flush during oral arguments.
November 5, 2025 at 3:50 PM
What? Not at all!

Politicians are crazy, but we need decision makers that lead. That's a very ego driven personality.

We also need fighters who push.

I absolutely subscribe to the idea that there's things that can be disqualifing, but absent those things policy results matter & personality not.

Grammar policing was tedious in middle school. Hasn't changed.

And you're wrong.
November 4, 2025 at 11:24 PM
And?

"Well technically" is never a winning political argument, as far as I can tell. If no one knows you're doing good ... that's not good politics.

But again, that's not their fault, right? That's the voters fault.
November 4, 2025 at 8:18 PM
And?

If they do X and deny it ... how is that different from doing X and admitting it?
