We can argue about the quality of the mid-type Dems, but Cheeto getting his ass kicked in midterms kind of shifted the story away from the shutdown. And the GOP response was, so what, fuck SNAP. And 3 days after the Dem cave, Trump Season 5 goes Epstein files on steroids. Box of chocolates indeed!
Imagine if Dems in the Senate hadn't caved. The House wouldn't be in session rn, the discharge petition wouldn't be signed, people wouldn't have SNAP, govt workers would be RIF'd & the GOP would have some decent talking points. But also online rage addicts would be happier! YMMV!

The lead person (by a lot, not a little) in my little corner of zoology is a woman.
In 2005, Summers said women aren't as mentally equipped to be scientists as men (link below). Harvard didn't fire his ass then.

Now in this 2017 email, he's making an insufferable, faux-clever "joke" about women's supposedly inferior IQ.

He's been garbage for decades.

Harvard President Summers' Remarks About Women in Science, Engineering
Harvard President Lawrence Summers faced intense criticism for remarks he made about the shortage of women in the sciences and engineering at a Jan. 14 closed-door conference.

Genius idea, would be completely off script for him. Shapiro announces his bid for Prez at 4 Seasons Total Landscaping.
Five yrs ago today in my role as head of Voter Protection for Biden-Harris in Phila, at right about this moment, I was reaching out to our team to figure out who could sneak into a hastily-called press conference by Rudy Giuliani at the Four Seasons Hotel ... and then, what, it's going to be where??

Don Bacon - “He needs to face reality and learn how to talk to Democrats he can reason with.”
Me - Don, he would have to be able to reason, and that isn't on offer. Never has been.

I will translate - Most of Trump’s fervent supporters have a violence fetish, and he loves to outrage “libs”. The others don’t know the people murdered, and comfort themselves with claims of killed drug dealers and save American lives.
Trump: "I don't think we're necessarily going to ask for a declaration of war, I think we're just gonna kill people that are bringing drugs into our country. We're going to kill them. They're going to be, like dead."

Just so everyone knows, folks were worried about "political correctness" (the Daddy of woke) back when I was just a student. I'll be 62 next month. People with college degrees have been writing bitchy articles about the Kids Nowawdays since there have been bitchy people with college degrees.
"Back when I was in college, I was a cool, virile twenty-two-year-old with washboard abs and a large group of friends. Students today would struggle to say the same, since I’m sixty-two, my kids hate me, and my doctor says I’m prediabetic."
The Problem with American College Campuses Is That I Desperately Miss Being Young
The wokeness epidemic has infected none of our institutions harder than our nation’s college campuses. It’s a sad sight to see these once bastions ...

It goes without saying that if a Democratic Prez got owned that hard by Putin and turned in an effort that incompetent, the MSM would never stop talking about it.

By next year, Jeffries may be meeting with Mayor Mamdani about an endorsement.
the most notable thing about the Politico/Mamdani/Jeffries piece imo is the framing that Mamdani lost somehow.

Mamdani is a rising star with broad and enthusiastic support. Jeffries needs him a lot more than he needs Jeffries, even if Jeffries doesn’t get that.

American Black politician of today is most concerned about the safety of the slave catchers of today. These are the type of men who would have hunted down Scott's ancestors with dogs. Ditto for the dunce interviewing him, Harris Faulkner.
Tim Scott: "I want to be very clear: If we continue to see this violence against law enforcement officers, do not expect not violence, blood in the streets."

This is the leadership America's voters chose last November. Petty, stupid, vindictive. We should feel great collective shame.
Karoline Leavitt indicates the administration is open to a denaturalization-oriented investigation against Zohran Mamdani

I think folks would really get more out of reading this, though. The headlines barely touch how fucked this story is. His team celebrates child death.

You will want the details, especially when persuading others of what Kennedy is doing.
Mainstream media took RFK's "endorsement" of vaccines at face value.

In reality, his Texas trip was focused on sending a different message: Only weak people use vaccines, and morally superior people tough out letting kids die.

Don't believe the hype: MAGA knows that RFK's "endorsement" of vaccines is phony
Using Trump's pandemic playbook, Kennedy uses anti-prevention actions to speak louder than his empty words

Keep an eye on this fat bastard. He’s showing up and showing out. Pritzker for Senate in 2026 and see where he goes from there.
Tyranny requires your fear and your silence and your compliance.

Democracy requires your courage.

Any chance there are three more Republicans in the Senate who care enough about the country to stop a wildly unqualified drunken lech from becoming the Secretary of Defense?
