Now, I hate AI in general, but it's really annoying that companies trying to shove it everywhere and thus justify the billions wasted has absolutely ruined Google Photos. It was a perfectly usable app, and now it's worse, with stable diffusion loading screens and inferior results.

Look at the absolute garbage AI that Alphabet has added to the crop section of Google Photos, while taking away the incredibly useful manual stretch to crop that allowed you to specify corners. They're so fucking desperate for a use case.

Here's a bonus ep of Better Offline. I report on how OpenAI’s new "router-based" ChatGPT-5 makes it impossible for OpenAI to cache the static prompt for any model or tool it uses every single prompt, doubling token burn for mediocre gains.

this is the big fight. I don't care how it polls or what some shithead centrist pundit thinks! if he is able to build the due-process-free mass deportation machine, it's not just that the old constitutional order is over, it's democracy that is over.

In 2020, it became apparent that a lot of people had been asleep in science class.

Well, in 2025, it’s become quite apparent that they slept through history class, too.

A restoration of the front cover of the Media Publication (a Stanley Morse imprint) comic book, "Mister Mystery" #4 (March 1952). This version was based in part on a copy with unusual cropping, and so shows slightly more of the cover. Pencils by Ross Andru and inks by (probably) Mike Esposito.

“Stigma and fear are there for D&Cs in a way that they are not for misoprostol,” said Dr. Alison Goulding, OB-GYN in Houston. “[Drs.] assume that a D&C is not standard in Texas anymore, even in cases where it should be recommended.People are afraid: They see D&C as abortion and abortion as illegal.”
NEW: Porsha Ngumezi is the fifth case we've reported on in which a woman died after not receiving a D&C or its second-trimester equivalent in time, or at all.

Her case raises questions about how abortion bans are pressuring doctors to avoid standard care even in straightforward miscarriages.
