again this all makes so much more sense (derogatory) when you read the kickstarter and see that at no point did they have an actual ttrpg designer on this project
Sitting down to make an Official Neopets TRPG, taking out a copy of D&D5E and staring at it thoughtfully for 16 hours before crossing out "Gelatinous Cube" and writing "Blopple" next to it, I make 100 billion neopoints and get a card that says I can now legally duplicate items
the neopets ttrpg kickstarter is going great

Man goes to Borges. Says he likes hourglasses, maps, eighteenth-century typography, the taste of coffee, Stevenson. Borges says 'great writer Borges shares these preferences.' Man bursts into tears, says 'but in a vain way like attributes of an actor'

what impressed me most today was that a huge crowd of people who mostly had never been tear gassed managed to retreat without running or trampling each other. under a cloud of gas that was not moving (zero wind), people held onto each other and walked blind down a street packed tight as sardines
Just got gassed pretty good at the labor union anti-ICE protest in Portland. Massive march, 5-10k strong. Vibes were very much liberal rather than radical. Lots of kids and older folks.

They gassed the whole crowd as soon as it marched on ICE, in broad daylight.

Cafe at The Portland art museum has Rothko no. 5 cakes. Something intellectually meaty about seeing the painting in person, and then eating a cake copy. The complete experience. Full spectrum.

Just talked a student through the bitter disappointment of realizing they probably won’t be able toaccess state archives in India for their dissertation. Some thoughts on how to handle this. 1) as an Indian, I have been hustling my way into archives my whole career so relativize the experience.

With french explanation from @chlowski.bsky.social, trivium = latin accusative singular of "trivia", bourge = french slang for bourgeois, formatting like "town on river". Loosely approximates: St Know-It-All-Town on the River Snooty-Rich lmfao

The first general strike to occur in the US was in Saint Louis 1877 and it was, by no mistake, multi-racial in its solidarity in the face of federal occupiers and deputized state police.

Quoted post unrelated.
Last night, The Minneapolis Federation of Educators Local 59 signed on to the call for a Jan 23 shutdown. That brings total labor support to: the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1005, SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, CWA Local 7250, St. Paul Federation of Educators Local 28, and the MFE 59
Unions and community orgs are calling for a Minnesota-wide shutdown in 10 days to protest the ferocious assault by federal immigration agents. They're saying on Jan 23, no work, no school, no shopping. SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, & others are supporting, w/ more to join. By me, Amie Stager

ALSO btw, you can use whatever cheese you have on hand, not just parmesan. It will be delicious pretty much no matter what.
Eating lunch, and somehow I am randomly inspired to tell you all that A) You can make risotto in the instant pot it's super easy and quick and B) you can totally use whatever cheap short grain rice your grocery store sells in that recipe, it will come out great.
