The rules as written for an RPG are like the sheet music as written for a song. Some musical types hew closer to the written score than others (classical vs. jazz for example), but even in the "tighter" forms, there's still a ton of interpretation in a performance beyond the written page.
lol ttrpg community not start unnecessary pedantic argument challenge: impossible.

Here’s a fun hot take for you:
NO ONE has EVER played a ttrpg rules as written, EVER, not even once. Human failure guarantees every session you play is deriving from every game text and session you’ve played prior.

I don't think I really appreciated it at the time, but in retrospect, I think that for me, the best thing about being a baby was not having to go to work.

I've finally released the first full edition of Fear and Panic! This is the most focused, streamlined version of a d100 horror system I could build, based on countless hours of playtesting and experience as a horror GM.

@pretendingpod.bsky.social is good! Or at very least, significantly better than Malort coffee.
#gencon is going great! Hanging out with @pretendingpod.bsky.social drinking coffee malort, doing a panel on Delta Green with @hebanongames.bsky.social and @kennethhite.bsky.social and dying for the emperor in laser tag

I'm not a big fan of super-crunchy RPGs, but I do love the way complex rules systems can lead to insane situations that you would absolutely never come up with through normal narrative storytelling. Like the Strip Mall Dojo Outlaw Arsenal Full of Traitors.
Bluesky lets you post longer videos now, so here's a clip from one of my favorite episodes of RPPR After Hours, where we look at older and weirder RPG books. In this episode we talked about Palladium's Ninjas and Superspies RPG and its organization building rules, www.patreon.com/posts/56915410
