Trump is 30 points underwater. Dems swept the special elections. People know the GOP is responsible for the shutdown. So the Dem Senators pulled out their big guns... and shot themselves in the foot.

People just voted across multiple states, in droves, for Dems who’ll fight for something.

_If_ Senate mods follow that showing by opting to fold for nothing … I do not think they will expect the backlash they touch off.

Who wants to use a credit card / go to a store when you can't tell if the form of payment you brought is accepted until you try it?

The best explanation here is: they know much of the American economy is more collusive than competitive, so consumers generally won't have a choice anyway.

As of Halloween, annual homicides in Chicago are the lowest since 2014 and the second lowest since at least 2001.

No amount of murder is acceptable, but a 50% drop from the pandemic spike is pretty remarkable. And there's still a chance that we'll hit a 25-year low by the end of December.

Hopeful that with a Montclair resident soon to be in the governors mansion will spur NJ Transit to run full weekend service to at least Montclair State.

Thanks to the Illinois’ massive investment in transit, Chicago has a bright transit future, with the dawn coming next year:
—50% increase in every-10-min bus routes to 30 citywide
—8-minute midday headways on rail lines
—24-hour Orange Line service (Red & Blue already have it)

The easiest take on this map is there should be true HSR on the NEC. And it’s correct.
But even if our federal politics weren’t completely f’ed, the more valuable take is understanding that HSR requires massive $s + political capital in dense populations👇 & challenging terrain🏔️

What a waste. $200 m on a 2.2-mi line that plods along at 8 mph, doesn't have a direct Metro connection, gets stuck behind cars with which it shares lanes, & arrives less frequently than the (faster) bus along the same route.

The city couldn't bother to make it effective, so now it's being killed.
