last week i remembered that macOS lets you set your own icons and that *I* have the power to delegitimize the professionalism of the software that runs on my machine, so here's a thread of the 16 new icons i've made so far

i really forgot how fun it was to just sit down and make art for myself :')

Alberta is expected to introduce anti-trans legislation (Bill 9, "Protecting Alberta's Children Statutes Amendment Act") with the notwithstanding clause today — overriding trans youth’s right to life and to equality.

This will be by far the deadliest anti-trans bill likely to become law in Canada.

Michigan lawmakers have introduced a bill prohibiting the any "depiction or description" of trans people or trans existence online, including it in a bill banning "pornographic" material

The bill would completely erase trans people online, equating them with porn.
Total porn ban proposed by Michigan lawmakers
Some states have moved to require age verification to ensure only adults are watching porn, but no states have outright banned the viewing of pornographic material.

I know it sounds trite, but I remember every one of them. The 10-year-old who wanted to be a supermodel, an astronaut, and president when she grew up. The high school junior already taking college classes in robotics at his local community college. The 14-year-old cheerleader who only looked up from her jewel-cased smartphone to make clear how mortified and bored she was by her mother’s pride in her. The rugged son of a tattooed single mom, Stetson high on his head and eager to show off his first car (a used pickup truck older than he was). The tween at their first pride parade, cheering on shelter dogs in rainbow tutus from the local ASPCA while their grandmother just looked on, confused but trying. The whimsigothic teenager in flowing skirts and hand-drawn Sharpie tattoos, dreaming of fleeing her small town for an art school on the East Coast. The 15-year-old polymath who wanted nothing more than to lead the brass section of her school’s band, who responded to my question about what instrument she played with a proud smile and the word “yes.”

i remember watching the ferguson protest live and seeing cops deliberately escalate when the crowd was entirely peaceful. told a friend; they couldn't believe it. hope people see and believe their own eyes now.

What's worse is that the police arent gunna protect you, neither are the courts... or the law...

Jonathan Joss--voice actor of John Redcorn from King of the Hill, and Ken Hotate from Parks and Rec--was killed in a homophobic hate crime today.

I'm so angry.
Statement from Tristan Kern de Gonzales Husband of Jonathan Joss My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home. That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times and nothing was done. Throughout that time we were harassed regularly by individuals who made it clear they did not accept our relationship. Much of the harassment was openly homophobic. When we returned to the site to check our mail we discovered the skull of one of our dogs and its harness placed in clear view. This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw. While we were doing this a man approached us. He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired. Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life. Jonathan is my husband. He gave me more love in our time together than most people ever get. We were newlyweds. We picked Valentines Day. We were in the process of looking for a trailer and planning our future. He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other. I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved. To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family. My focus now is on protecting Jonathan’s legacy and honoring the life we built together. If your concern is how someone coped with trauma or how loudly they speak when recounting injustice and being ignored by authorities then you never truly cared about my husband. Jonathan saved my life. I will carry that forward. I will protect what he built. Tristan Kern de Gonzales
