These are not "just" comics.

If you ever wanted to see these stories on TV you NEED to buy these comics to tell the studios it's worth doing!

RE: the star trek AI comic debacle: if there's anything to come outta this, i DO NOT want to see trek fans who DON'T work in comics/the arts lecturing people that DO (or fans that pressed the suspicion) getting high and mighty about "overreactions" or "examining behavior." redirect that anger. 🧵

I'm happy I finally have time time to feature the "Tales from the Frontier" comic, seen in #StarfleetAcademy's "Come, Let's Away".😊 I have assembled all the pages seen in the episode but as a special gift, here's the cover and back page of the comic, provided to me by its designer: Stu Pearce! 🧵 1/4

Sci-Fi and every other creative medium out there only benefits from the participation of women and girls who want to contribute to it.

Ladies, DO NOT let the sexism and misogyny deter you from celebrating what you love. You deserve to be here.

And I’m glad you want to stay.
Not gonna link to the giant freaking robot article, because they want the outrage clicks cos its the only way they get any traffic with thier mediocre writing, but I will say that if it wasnt for young women there would be no Star Trek and frankly there would be no Sci-Fi. Not sure the precise details of their article, and I would never go to that trash website to read it, but if anyone ever questions how crucial women have been to the history of Star Trek & it's fandom, insist they read these books.

I've mentioned it before; this is oldest Star Trek fan magazine I personally own. THREE (of five) cover feature articles are credited to women writers. Another article is a profile of a woman who made costumes for fans. And roughly half of the fan photos have women in them. Not bad for 1977

I know it's not the point, but I'm struck by the blue "gown" uniform. Was this in the show and I've forgotten, or the wearer's interpretation? It's an amazing look.

Anyone who thinks that young women are bad for, well, anything is letting their misogyny and willful ignorance show and should be shunned. (Ignoring isn't enough. Those people need to be ridden out of fandom on a virtual rail).

Here's some work on the Shuttle bay for that latest Star Trek shot - it'll be very visible when the Workbees come in to land. Making good progress, trying to not get lost in details we'll never see. :P

'I HATED this episode/character/theme/thingy'

My sibling in Christ, no, hate is a silly word to attach to something that isn't actively harming anyone or anything.

This is the effect of the click-bait rage reactors.

I HATED THIS STAR TREK EPISODE NOW BUY MY MERCH

Literally.

A woman, Lucille Ball, got Star Trek made when no one else in the industry would.

Later, another woman, Bjo Trimble, rallied the fans to save it from cancelation.

I could easily take the low road with my critical response to the terrible robot article. However, putting on my professor hat:

1. Your thesis is predicated on the idea that “diversity” killed #StarTrek when literally every source indicates that has always been the core philosophy of the IP.

"young women are never going to watch something called Star Trek" sorry what
What’s new here is the …random misogyny this guy speaks with when he tries to draw a conclusion to this. Forgive me, but there is fuck all reason to say “only teenage girls like NuTrek” unless you’re just a fucking Misogynist. There’s really nothing else to it.

…this is just gatekeeping. If you seriously think that Star Trek isn’t for a subsection of society because “the new stuff’s woke and Star Trek isn’t” you need to get a grip on your priorities in life.

Brace yourselves for a thread of some of the bigger threads I've posted on here. These are all impossibly niche and littered with an embarrassing amount of typos. You have been warned.

1. My magnum opus is certainly this thread about the fonts of Star Trek
#StarTrek Fonts: The Thread

This thread is going to cover the official typefaces used for on-screen titles and marketing materials etc. Not in-universe graphics, alien scripts or any of that.

Feedback and corrections welcome! Please check ALT text for additional context. 🧵 [001/???]

I watched Star Trek since I was in high-school while other girls in my school are into chick-lit or cheap romance series so..
This guy is a stupid bigot who knows fuck all about Trek history.

"Kurtzman’s attempt replace Trekkies with new Trekkies ... failed. He didn’t find replacements, because those replacements would have to be young women. Newsflash: Young women are never going to watch something called Star Trek."
