It's an astonishingly stupid thing for a minister to say, though it's been framed as a bit worse than it actually was. But it really should be a guiding principle of public life not to say things that will immediately cause people to think of the Nazis.

No, no they weren't. People who wanted secure borders voted Reform. The fact that Starmer and the people around him believe this nonsense is extremely concerning.
Asked if Keir Starmer believes British people want to "see refugee children pulled out of school and deported after 10 years in this country”, his spokesman says that “what the British public wants and what this government was elected on a mandate to deliver was to secure our borders"

Daisuke Igarashi very deliberately builds Children of the Sea slowly, establishing a tranquil mystery looking at life and what we don't yet know about it. Over 5 volumes it asks questions you won't find in any other graphic novel.

There was right from the creation of the Fabian Society a nasty genre of English Socialism that wanted to ameliorate the conditions of the working class, but would rather none of them came round for tea. Glasman is the modern iteration of that l.
The unis he's thinking of *are* vocational colleges in practice. The reason they were granted formal university status in the 1990s was to improve the prestige and recognition of the qualifications they offered.

For all his claims of being a working-class whisperer, Glasman at core is just a snob.
it's fascinating to think what Blue Labour's ideal Britain looks like

In the UK, think Daniel Hannan, Allison Pearson and Rod Liddle.
Last night I wondered if the "evergreen" post implies the existence of a "nevergreen" post, a take that is useless from the moment it's published. Then I remembered that Bret Stephens, Ross Douthat, and David Brooks are all highly paid commentators.

As I said, the discourse is just nonsensical.
The James Bond discourse just doesn't work on any level for me, what do you mean "the audience won't buy it," they think Timothy Dalton and Sean Connery are the same guy
