Today’s old man rant about stuff that doesn’t matter in the long haul:

I can hardly express how disgusted I am with both the Geisel estate and what’s left of The Who over those Walmart holiday ads. Just bloody awful.

An unimaginably devastating loss. Our hearts go out to Alex and Kayla Vesia.

Not a full turnover from the last post, what with the time spent watching the playoffs & the World Series.

I never believed our situation would deteriorate to the point that Dick Cheney’s death would cause me to feel… absolutely nothing. Rest In Shrug, I guess.

Early voting is underway for Prop 50 in California.

I urge anyone in the state to vote yes.

This isn’t a race to the bottom. It’s a means of avoiding the bottom. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/what-blue-states-should-do-when-red

Lies gain power through repetition.
Repeat the TRUTH!
Every single one of these clips was taken today in downtown Portland. Portland doesn’t want or need a federal takeover. If Trump insists on sending federal “resources” he can start with funding health care, bridges, affordable housing, and wildfire protection to name a few.

Kudos to Only Murders in the Building for scoring the opening sequence of S5 E2 with “It’s a Hap-Hap-Happy Day”. The song was first heard in Max Fleischer’s 1939 animated feature “Gulliver’s Travels” and in numerous Fleischer and Famous Studios cartoon shorts that followed.

Remembering MN house speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark and their beloved dog Gilbert. Murdered in June at their home by a rightwing Trump-voting evangelist, who also shot another MN lawmaker and his wife at THEIR home, 9 and 8 times, respectively (miraculously, they survived).

Happy anniversary to the Clown Princess of Crime! Harley Quinn has been stealing the spotlight since her debut in Batman: The Animated Series, where she taught us all the true meaning of “main character energy” — especially since she was created as a side character!

One day after the Supreme Court lifted the ban on racial profiling, federal agents swarmed a car in Van Nuys.

Four masked agents with guns drawn yanked people out, slammed them to the ground, and pointed a weapon at a pregnant woman.

There is no justification for this. None.

Current read. We were fortunate enough to see “Spamalot” 3 weeks after its Broadway opening in (Can it be possible?) 2005. This delightfully chronicles the journey @ericidle.bsky.social and his collaborators took to get there.
