I actually got an #SDCC badge for Thurs/Sun (shock). And w/o a group (more shock). Last time I got something in open reg solo was 1st yr of online registrations ~2011 or 2012, then after that it was all returning registrations w/ friends until 2020 cancellation.

Maybe don’t elect people who’ve never bought groceries, paid for a tank of gas, navigated open enrollment, dealt w/ doctors or insurance co. over billing/authorization issues, paid some bills (& maybe checked their bank acct first). Just some basic functional skills.
TRUMP: We’re going to give Americans the money to buy health insurance

REPORTER: But won’t they buy it from
Insurance companies?

TRUMP: Ahhh. Some may. I mean they’ll be negotiating prices

The reason the emails read like hot garbage is because they don't have to worry about being judged. These are not men who have ever poured over an email out of fear of not being taken seriously or not being treated professionally.

He lacks everything you want in a Sec of Defense: intelligence, leadership, experience, good judgment, seriousness, etc. But he has some physical fitness skills, so that’s what matters most to him, along with the racism and misogyny.
Hegseth: "I don't want my son serving alongside troops that are fat and out of shape, or in combat units with females who can't meet the same combat arms physical standards as men in their units."

Unlike you, I can read and that’s why I know what the constitution says.
Trump on Ilhan Omar: "I look at somebody who comes from Somalia...and she comes in and tells us how to run our country. 'The Constitution says this, the Constitution says that.' The whole thing is crazy."

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

@schiff.senate.gov voice mailbox full and @padilla.senate.gov voicemail just said we’re closed and disconnected me. Of course. 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Anyone who votes for this now deserves to get shellacked in their next primary.

Regular reminder that Axios stories saying Dems are about to cave are likely sourced from GOP staffers trying to make it happen.
Doesn't mean it definitely won't happen. But it's like those NYT stories that Harvard is considering caving (they haven't). The anonymous source was trying to manifest it.

The “dignity of work” party that’s done even less work than usual this year, giving themselves another week’s vacation.
They don’t even pretend to care. This is the only story. You can’t open the government if the House refuses to show up.

First time voting in-person in a while. I missed coloring in the bubble, but using a touchscreen to make my selection, then printing it out so there’s still a physical ballot is 👍🏻.

There is no difference between Trump destroying the East Wing and using a wrecking ball on the Washington Monument or Smithsonian. Just because he (temporarily) lives there doesn't give him the right to demolish the White House without Congressional approval.

Based on an etsy chart from CrossStitchWithArt. I swapped out the original colors and used the etoile floss for a little sparkle. #cross-stitch

Emailed an Australian library to see if they have a translation of a 1943 German article that, per 2 print translation indexes from the 1960s-70s, was held in their collection. Expecting a no, but maybe they’ll find the request amusing…

Just learned that Twitch City is on Youtube, so there goes my plans to start a new show tonight.

Ah yes, the good old days of film and TV show swaps with Canadian fans for stuff we couldn't get here (and vice versa).

Fantastic movie.
Are you in the mood to read me, @jamellebouie.net , @mangiotto.bsky.social and/or @midcenturycinema.bsky.social on John Frankenheimer's innovatively shot, incredibly unsettling and still wildly timely cult classic Seconds, released on this date in 1966? Thought so!

New #cross-stitch project complete. From diyitart at Etsy, on 18 count rather than 14 (so more 4x6.5 rather than 5x7). It also went faster and with fewer errors, courtesy of the Markup r-xp app. Audio support: lots of the Queens podcast and the lastest JD Robb audiobook.

Many of this are left cold by this. I sure am. But this - the kind of performative Andrew Tate cartoon-masculinity, the clumsy swagger, the maundering braggadocio, the needy desperate I‘M A MANLY MAN I’M A MANLY MAN, speaks to a howling void of inadequacy in some people’s souls.
Hegseth: "We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement."

So we should take medical advice from the guy who (checks notes) can't pronounce acetominophen, can't remember what the ‘R’ in MMR stands for, and thinks babies are injected with a vat of liquid consisting of 80 vaccines?
