Silent Film Fridays is a streaming co-production with my daughter, Alex. As she and I are history nerds as well as film nerds, SFF is a labor of love as well as a tribute to a dear and absent friend. We feature silent films in the public domain, although (1/x thread)

This day, five years ago.

RIP the Perseverance Skycrane, giving us one of the most badass sci-fi-like photos in space exploration history.

My closest friend and I just fell into an online rabbit hole about the Possum Lady while video chatting. It was one of the most delightfully neurodivergent experiences I've had lately.

Once again, Starfleet Academy's got me all teared-up. While episode 7 wasn't the adrenaline extravaganza of episode 6, the quiet moments of connection were affecting.

I'm also loving Reno and Thok and how Thok is both fierce and soft. Such a great relationship to see.

Saving to share with students
Right now people are using this trick to change what AI tells you about topics as serious as medial questions and financial advice. The problem is ENORMOUS

Experts like like @lilyray.nyc say this is a problem the tech industry has know about forever, they just didn’t work on it til it was a crisis

Happy day to all who celebrate
Lovely.

We had traditional Polish Paczkis : rosehip-filled; prune filled; chocolate covered cream; and powdered cream. We had them over a few days...

I taught in a Polish neighborhood for a decade, and staff would bring large boxes to share. I love the rose and was able to find them.

I would love to see this address be taken to heart by anyone and everyone who hears it. We are all somebody. We should be respected, protected, and never rejected.
Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson has passed away at the age of 84. My thoughts are with his family.

I wanted to share this clip from his appearance on Sesame Street in 1971. His important words ring just as true today as they did back then.

Hey new york city, can anybody help out this poor little cat?
This super sweet female young cat was found in Bushwick. She's currently staying on a terrace because the cats living in that house are not very friendly, and she is looking for either a foster or a forever home. If anyone can help, please send me a DM

I'm going to prep this for conference karaoke. It never hurts to have a few songs in the back pocket.

If it is possible, get your passport asap.
This scheme to make passports harder to obtain comes as Republicans are trying to make passports one of the few documents that can be presented in order to be permitted to register to vote.

People talk a lot about Daniel Radcliffe's post-Potter career, but may I recommend also giving Harry Melling a look? Kid's come a long way from playing Dudley.

I just had a teaching joy experience talking about fans and fandom with a class. We were so enjoying it that it came as a surprise to a few of the students when our time was at an end.
