Of course I also wish I'd have the time and energy to work on more cool side projects I could show off instead of just work and survive 😭

it's funny to me that the bsky map has put me closer to "furry art" than "electronics/embedded hacking" but it's probably better company in general

A lot of this can be "Yes and" stuff- Street calming infrastructure reduces pedestrian juicing and makes the streets more pleasant to be a pedestrian on, even in the absence of cars. This is good, because maintaining higher standards for drivers would necessarily mean fewer people qualified to drive

Yeah, I personally live for the isolation involuntary digital asceticism creates, especially when it increasingly bleeds into irl

Glad discord has become the defacto site for open-source project support and small queer communities.

Last night I had a dream that I was in a bizarre hotel, constructed like a child trying to build her middle school in The Sims, and I was staying in a room behind another room, accessible only through the closet. This room contained only a Commodore 64, no bed.

Idk I saw a big post this morning thirsting after 40 year old "older lesbians," maybe the future is bright

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

This frustration is not mitigated by the fact that half the tasks I've been thrown on have generated new bugs for the vendor to investigate.

It's frustrating that I was thrown on a project with a tech stack that is completely foreign to me, under the justification of, "You'll learn it quick and we have a bunch of other people in the company who have used all this" and I have yet to have a single question answered by a coworker.

Like, we have crossed the Rubicon of "Innocent bystanders having an expectation of accommodation" and have probably crossed the point of there being innocent bystanders. Your actions declare which side you're on, and I have troubling news for those whose actions undermine folks disrupting the regime

Sorry, that's not intended to be salt towards TARC, y'all are doing your best in a shitty situation (and the new route structure will actually allow me personally to use the bus *more*), I just wish we had leadership that would facilitate improved services and better urbanism.

I mean that might require us to build civic infrastructure to support bigger events, or run local government for more than a retirement grift.

But consider: The lack of hotel space downtown is the reason GenCon rejected Louisville the last time they were calling for bids.

πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―

A coworker's spouse came into town last fall, and was asking me about getting from the airport to downtown with public transit and renting a bike/using a bikeshare to get around for a couple days, and all I could do was tell her, "Happy to pick you up and you're welcome to borrow my bike." πŸ˜‚πŸ˜
