Distracting myself from The Horrors(tm) by writing a rambling, semi-coherent review of Paul Tremblay's HORROR MOVIE, a thing I only felt compelled to do after reading entirely too many awful takes on Reddit.

FINALLY 239 movies later I have finished logging all of the movies @comicrelief.bsky.social and I have watched for our film series double-features since we started in 2019.

Well, except for the two we watched tonight that I gotta add. But.

We're calling for submissions to the Black Archive from disabled authors and authors of colour, who we know have been underrepresented in the range.

Please spread this as widely as you can, as we want it to reach as many eligible authors as possible. Thank you.

Going way back in history for today's double feature with Murders in the Zoo (1933) and The Beast With Five Fingers (1947)

If you are younger than 83, you have never seen the US drop a single bomb as a formally declared act of war according to its constitution.

My advice for today (US):

Get off social media

Do something to support your local community, especially the marginalized folks ever targeted by this vivious regime

Otherwise, nest at home. Have a conversation with a friend. Make art. Anything to recharge your batteries for whatever’s next.

The US literally kidnapped Maduro on the anniversary of kidnapping the Panamanian leader in 1990.
I'm seeing some comments saying stuff like "No US President has ever done anything like the kidnapping of Maduro before" and altho I relate to the outrage behind such a comment, I encourage you to look up the history of United States presidents before you post this

Thinking again about that anonymous whale who bet big on Maduro's removal on Polymarket just before the op happened... and about how Trump's been staying at his Mar-a-Lago resort through all of this

Honestly the Nigeria strike on Christmas Day was likely tied to oil too. Nigeria BEEN making big waves as Africa's major oil driller. Always look at what resources are in the regions being invaded.

"If there’s one thing I’ve learned from 80 years of film so far, it’s that the psychoanalyst is definitely fucking your wife."

-- An observation we made 5 years ago during our horror movie studies and which remains, somehow, persistent.

New Year, New Terrors inbound!

February brings @kristalstittle.bsky.social's KAYAK, whose DNA can be traced to the classic survival novel HATCHET as well as A QUIET PLACE & THE WALKING DEAD, but spun into a unique, impossibly tense alien invasion sci-horror.

Look, I'll just say it. It's dumb that we start the new year in the heart of winter. It really should happen in the spring. You know, when things are blooming and waking up and coming to life and the world feels new. Not when you wake up and the new year is just cold dreary gray garbage.

Have you checked out Tradwife by @tcparker.bsky.social ? Because it's a fantastic queer murder mystery and one of my favorite reads of last year

More importantly, it appears to be being suppressed by A Certain Major Website for the sin of having a fucking awesome cover

LOOK AT IT, IT'S GREAT
