Iceland is the most American country in Europe, followed by Norway in the way they see the world through fast industrialization by fossil fuel extraction. Western Finland is close behind - the east is still more humble in a way
#Iceland has pursued tourism growth. Other Nordics also grow commercial aviation, but Iceland increased transport emissions throughout the modes due to imported 4x4s for off-road driving.

The renewables consist mostly of hydropower for industrial purposes.

Deep, dirty, and oily pockets fund the disinformation campaign against clean #RenewableEnergy. Why? So that fossil fuel companies can scoop short-term profits while inflicting long-term damage from burning the planet.
If only climate groups had the money and infrastructure to run a $20 million ad campaign, knock on 500,000 doors, and have 1,500 meetings with lawmakers, as right-wing groups do on just one bill to fight for fossil fuels.

And Canada has taken its eye off the ball under Carney, rolling back nearly all of our #decarbonization efforts in less than a year only to double down on Oil & Gas production in the most cynical episode of bait & switch I've ever seen - e.g., phony policies like 'decarbonized' oil & carbon capture.
Carney on Canada becoming a leader in green technology: "You just have to look at where China and others are going. We have an enormous opportunity in this country to leapfrog the United States. The United States has taken its eye off the ball on this."

I stand with the environment.

There is also the fact that climate change is costing billions already, and will cost trillions. This is the financial aspect. Billions of lives will be lost from all species. Have read estimates of 4 billion humans. WTAF?
Since I wrote this in early November the Carney government has admitted they are not on track for 1.5 or 2 degree targets, and said they'd need a "significant change in policy" to get on track, and then promptly signed a pipeline MOU with Alberta and rolled back more climate rules..
Canada has abandoned the 1.5 and 2 degree targets
What does it mean to abandon something? It means to “cease to support or look after (someone); desert,” to “give up completely (a course of action, a practice, or a way of thinking)” or to “discont…
