Elizabeth Packard was a brilliant, courageous, and compassionate woman. Kudos to Kate Moore for telling her story.
"The Woman They Could Not Silence" by Kate Moore

Women, basically seen as property in the time of Elizabeth Packard, were viewed as 'insane' for the mere act of having an opinion that differed from their husband. Or, heaven forbid, a woman be caught in the act of "novel reading". 💙📚 #BookSky #books

This is really good! Glad I read it.
Life has been...rough for a while, and I haven't been able to write much for too long, but if you're curious about what I've got, here are a few links to some short stories.

Here's a story with a little horror and a little hope that young me needed. jlilycorbie.wordpress.com/2020/10/11/c...
Come to the Water
Written for the lonely teenager I was, who badly needed to see some happy endings. Happy coming out day.

This could happen at my small town library too! The service is awesome!
Small-town library appreciation post: My daughter stopped by our local library after hours. The librarian was just leaving and said "Sorry, we're closed," then paused and asked, "is it an emergency?"

Anyone up for a game of ladderball?

I agree.
I got my comment in just under the wire, wrote in my best ‘I went to grad school’ voice. I didn’t even swear.
Working on my public comment for the government's "Development of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Plan." Lemme know what you think.

Due today by 11:59 pm ET.

Good idea!
3 things I did this morning to try and help, in case they inspire you to do similar things in your area:

1. Set up a small monthly donation to Wikipedia and Internet Archive. As websites get doctored or scrubbed, keeping records becomes even more important. These are 2 places trying to do that.

Beautiful!
Please forgive my political sternness. I’m just really passionate about preserving our democracy. Wherever you are I pray that your Christmas is filled with an abundance of love and Indigenous light.

If you decide to take a break from social media, don't announce it. Instead, make your last post something
interesting like, "Guys, there's the cutest family of black bears over there. I'm gonna go grab a photo. brb."

I was particularly happy to see the well done Black history month display at my local library today.

I’ve quit telling people that I disagree with them. Instead, I now say, “I’m gonna have to agree with myself on this one.” It’s self-positive, non-confrontational, and just weird enough to end the conversation.
