Trying to read a financial report and the budget variance page is doing my head in. Brackets = a negative amount, right? This one also has red downwards & green upwards arrows. But the green ones seem to show overspend, so my brain wants them to be red please 😂😵💫😱

Repeating this from a reply - why is Labour talking about a Medicard system? Everyone has a NHI number, some have community service cards ...I don't get the need for another system. I work in health and there are already too many systems -

I'm sure it's totally coincidental that the AoNZ government's changes to the Marsden Fund have been followed by successful applications led by female investigators dropping from 55% to 33%, and successful applications led by Māori investigators dropping from 13% to 5%. 🫠 🧪

Reactive hypoglycemia hit last night (rt gastric bypass). It's terrifying & I can't find any info abt what happens if I don't get up & eat! Do I just get over it? I'm usually very thirsty. It's a sign that my self-care is shit this week, not enough protein or fat, too many carbs, dehydrated. Ugh.

10 days until my holiday! I claimed a bit of life insurance so we're taking my younger 2 kids & their partners to Dunedin for their grandmother's 80th, with a few days in Wanaka revisiting holidays from 25 years ago. Every accom we've booked has a bath!! Plus meeting some pocket friends irl 😱😍

How the hell can I have spent the last 3 hours writing an author bio?? I'll tell you - imposter syndrome 😱😱. 135 words, 3 hours, stressing out, and comparing myself to every Māori author who ever wrote a word (many of whom are on this platform). I'm such a wimp.

This nurse practitioner here, who's constantly advocating for expanding the role of registered nurses in Primary Health Care, is gonna have a stroke if every political party including the Greens keeps talking about "free GP visits"

Mikey nails it - the feelgood factor of free visits is still feeding the underlying problem.
Free primary care visits (fuck this GP centric discussion) would be great IF our primary health care system wasn't an example of neoliberalism failing the people. Especially in a context where primary care clinics are rapidly being bought out by conglomerates of profiteers.

It's the Fesshole/Vagina Museum crossover event you've all been waiting for. Tons of you tagged us into this across all of our socials, asking for a fact-check. The consensus of the reply guys is that it Didn't Happen. However, this is in fact very possible. Here's why...

Some days my day job in cancer research feels too personal. I'm reading papers for a lit review & struck over and over again about the silencing of any voices who are not on the treatment pathway. Access to supportive care is via treatment providers only. It's isolating & scary to be outside that.

Also worth noting that our worst paid nurses in New Zealand, the ones whose pay equity claims were thrown in the trash by this government aren't able to join the strike today. But remember that primary health care, aged care and Māori health service nurses stand in solidarity with the strike.

I'm not striking today - working for the day with a significantly underfunded NGO instead. Standing (at my desk) in solidarity though. Be safe e hoa ma.
