Some good news this morning. Wales does not need more Austerity delivered by a Thatcherite-loving, English nationalist bigot.

Labour also deservedly put on their arse. Big momentum now going forward into the Senedd elections for PC, let's make it happen. Dewch ymlaen, Cymru!

Whilst @vicderbyshire.bsky.social is one of the better interviewers out there. I still find there's such a disparity with how mainstream presenters treat pro-green energy/net zero advocates & the anti net-zero/fossil fuelists. Ed M challenged on every claim, the Tory barely pulled up on any of hers.

Invertebrate centrism in a nutshell. Spends half the article complaining about the Green leader not believing violent Israeli thugs chanting about rape & death to Arabs should be welcome, then lies about them having no form for hooliganism.

No one would have blinked if it was a non-Israeli club.

The populist Right (and Far Right) simply have absolutely nothing to offer but fear and endless culture wars to divide us. Their politics exist only to serve theor billionaire class masters and their ever expanding accumulation of our wealth and assets.
Many on the right will try and belittle and undermine what’s happening.

But here’s the truth. Tens of thousands are joining Greens. Polls are at record highs. People are just starting to feel hope again.

Which work? Calling for gay people to be stoned to death? Blaming airplane crashes on black pilots? Anti-vax bullshit? Election denialism? Pushing Great Replacement Theory?

Kirk’s murder is awful and ominous for this country. But no, we don’t need to honor him or “continue his work.”

It's startling that Adil is the only British broadcaster/journalist willing to call out far right extremism and pose the questions the Govt & Media are far too spineless to ask. It's left to him to ask why this Govt refuses to condemn racist, fascist mobs or why they won't protect people from them.
A standing ovation for someone found guilty of tweeting about burning migrants alive. She was sentenced to 31 months for inciting racial hatred. The judge said “You intended to incite serious violence. What you did encouraged activity which threatened or endangered life.” Who’s calling this out?
The Reform UK conference gives a standing ovation to "special guest" Lucy Connolly, who pled guilty to stirring up racial hatred after she called for asylum hotels to be set on fire with people inside them.

Where Is the Political Leadership Against This Violent Far-Right Movement Terrorising Britain?
The silence of senior mainstream politicians and media organisations against the rise of a new well-organised far-right movement on Britain's streets is a disgrace, argues Adam Bienkov

What I've been saying. You can't rely on US "security guarantees" expecting Trump to protect UKR, esp. when he was out there y'day blaming them for this war!

If Putin attacks & breaks his shitty deal, Trump sure as shit won't bring US military might down on RUS, he'll blame EUR/UKR before Putin.
Any US security guarantees to Ukraine would not be credible if Trump is president, sorry.

Right idea in theory—Russia already broke multiple deals, already attacked aggressively twice, only US can really scare them—but even if Europe got US to agree, it won’t be credible, and therefore cannot work.

Amazing how in a week we've gone from "I'm gonna seriously punish Russia if they don't stop!" to "hey let's meet up Putin & attempt to divide up Ukraine again as a reward". Almost like this was the plan all along. Utterly idiotic & self-defeating from a geopolitics POV for the US.
For those who were hopeful that Trump “pivoted” on Ukraine, the meeting in Alaska will sell Ukraine down the river.

Trump is scared to death of Putin.

At this point of her self-humiliation she's probably a few months away from saying she doesn't identify as black anymore either. Might as well just come out & say "please vote for me white supremacists and racists who despise my ethnicity"

There is a growing violent movement which senior politicians and media organisations are now not only seeking to justify, but actively encouraging.

Why it's time for politicians to instead start standing up to the wholly illegitimate concerns of the far right

Famously working class white men on the Left like myself don't actually exist, everyone on the Left is actually posh & privileged living in the London bubble.

These tropes were lazy in 2016 when every RW outlet/pundit was punting it to exhaustion but sorry those latter points are pure bullshit.
Not vibes, just the story of recent years, from dismissal of Brexit voters as “racist” to derision for “white van man”, from job ads for the “benefit class, criminal class and/or underclass” to portrayals of people on benefits as “lazy” and gaming the system.

The first time Charlie Chaplin used his voice in a film, he wielded it to forcefully condemn the rising forces of fascism around the globe.

Will we listen to his words today?

We have so many talentless, pieces of shit in Govt right now, genocidal freaks that are clutching their pearls over the most inane bollocks going.

They should be going after BBC bosses but they're far too cowardly & afraid of upsetting the establishment by sacking these Tories in charge.

Ian Dunt pointing out here that no person could possibly have won an election w/ 34% vote share but McCummings. With his purging of all dissenting voices being good politics, as clearly all were nasty antisemites.

Nor apparently is there any middle ground between Stalinism & BlackRock Blue Labour.

Don’t give up.

That’s the trick.

Even when the news is all bad, even when it feels rigged and empty.

Hopelessness is a product too, don’t buy it.

Keep going.

That’s the rebellion.

Blue Labour makes as much sense as Green Reform or Socialist Conservatives. A load of deluded weirdos who enjoy sniffing their own farts, that have little substance behind the rhetoric nor any serious answers to our many problems.
What’s wrong with the new Blue Labour?

Beginning to feel like every time they take the guardrails off and Musk decides to personally intervene and micro-manage how things run, his companies start going to shit.
One of the SpaceX fan cams caught a crane collapse at Starbase in Texas. This kind of thing only happens from a completely unacceptable safety culture failure and I'd be shocked if there wasn't a death here

Farage trying to claim that workplace "DEI" training funding somehow costs double the entire London Met Police annual budget. Or the entire budgets of the Met, G. Manchester, W. Midland, W & S. Yorkshire & Merseyside police forces combined.

I'm sure the BBC & Sky will be rigorously call this out..

This gets the story wrong on a fundamental level because it assumes DOGE was about what Musk claimed.

DOGE was about stealing data, getting Musk contracts, shutting down investigations and regulations of Musk’s companies, and terrorizing federal workers. On that front, it succeeded.
“Musk came to Washington all Cybertrucks and chain saws, ready to destroy the bureaucracy,” write Ashley Parker and Michael Scherer. But as he winds down his service, “he has found himself isolated within the upper reaches of the Trump administration”: https://theatln.tc/ckySMUOS

So the establishment hounded Lineker out for speaking out on the genocide.

Gotta have impartiality at the BBC you see, couldn't have say, the editor of the Spectator, who attends far right conferences w/ Orban & Douglas Murray ranting on Twitter about the EU hosting a BBC politics show now.

We've allowed the debate to forever be conducted on RW media/Farage's turf, where it's always a problem to crack down on, never an opportunity or necessity. A one-sided national conversation driven by fear, not facts.

Ageing pop, low birthrates, shrinking workforce, tax burden increase.. silence.
The government’s abject surrender in the immigration conversation will not necessarily lose them votes. But it won’t win any either because a) for good
or for ill, the small boats are the really emotive issue & b) people who simply resent immigrants will always favour Farage. He’s one of their own.

There seems to be a persistent belief in politics that despite the decline in trad. blue collar "working class", they're still treated as far more worthy than people of the middle & professional classes, with the latter treated w/ contempt. Despite them making up a massive part of the electorate.
Tl;dr - one lesson of blue wall 2024 results is that if you keep telling voters you dislike them and will ignore them, sooner or later they will believe you. Labour seem determined to ignore that lesson.
