Autistic/alexithymia insight of the day:

It’s chilly and wet and I’m wandering about the house feeling grim and wondering what’s making me feel this way (what am I sad about?). After a full morning of it, I finally realise; *I’m cold*, better put another layer on. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I tried making gyoza for the first time tonight, and the filling was minced tofu, cabbage, carrot, onion, spring onion and garlic. For some reason, to my veggie-for-decades taste buds, they tasted like what I remember tuna tasting like!?!

They were nice though, definitely making them again…

New superpower just dropped…

I almost never use people’s names because it’s just too personal; like, it’s *your* name, not mine. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not that I use my own name in conversation either, that would just be weird.

SPOONS! A fantastic video from Matt, entertaining and informative.

Wondering if it’s the colder weather or the work I’m doing at the moment, but my joints are *aching*. If anyone would like to come over and pummel me into some semblance of relaxation, I’d be grateful.

I have a pewter hip flask that I’ve had for 25-is years that I must have sat on because the convex side had turned concave. I read some random advice about putting a little fizzy drink in it and then shaking to pop the side back out and it only went and worked!

Gone from a squished 100ml to 125ml!

I have a favourite hoodie that I don’t wear anymore because the cuffs are frayed. Does anyone have a link to a (simple) how-to repair guide?

I am a very poor seamstress, however… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rest is *good*, unscheduled time is *good.* You are not always either producing or decaying. Creativity flows from shutting things up enough to hear yourself, to be able to synthesize everything you’ve taken in lately.

Just wrapped up writing the Bestiary for DURF Expanded!
It ended up with over 160 different monsters, some of which were suggested by the community!

Filled with a healthy dread at the prospect of having to illustrate this lot ✨

Hi, I'm scarlet fever, a mucus plug, and the Snow White ride at Disney World

All of these happened when I was under 7 years old

Nice to find a name for a thing that is happens to me! I mean, I’m not a doctor, but this describes exactly what it feels like. It started when I started running, and exercise can be a cause, but it was worst last January when it lasted for three months.

💚 board games 💚

"Dr Atherton said: "Our research has shown they [board games] can enhance wellbeing, foster inclusion, and support learning, with strong evidence that games improve engagement and social connection for neurodivergent individuals compared to other activities."

I don’t do new year resolutions, but if I did, they would be…

- be weirder
- find a cave in the woods to live in
- be kinder to myself

This is a really useful thread about dealing with distinct anxiety, and I am scribbling notes as I read it…
So, I posted yesterday about distinct anxiety... a type of anxiety specific to autism that can't be explained by any other existing anxiety disorder... and a lot of you felt seen by my post, but then immediately asked what you can do about it.

And I get it...

Rabbit hole of the day: how do formal balls work? Writing a little thing for a game and wanted to understand a bit about them first (never been to one, obvs.) and now I’m knee-deep in “what sort of gloves must one wear to this type of ball” and other interesting facts.
