We’ve had a lot of mosquitos, and ran out of citronella candles. I remembered a thing I read about Roman olive oil lamps, so I got some wire, olive oil, pliers and wire and tried it out. Some lavender oil in the olive oil and it’s working pretty well.

It’s hot today and my little dog is out snoozing in the yard. He doesn’t want anything heating him up, but he does like to push his little head against my leg for reassurance. 😍

Rufus has had his bath and is now caught in the space between enjoying the slightly floral smell from the dog shampoo and trying to replace his stink profile as quickly as possible.

It’s only taken a month and a half, but Rufus finally deigned to try his bed instead of trying to eat it. He seems to like it - I placed it so he can watch out the balcony door for cats.

The poor boy is traumatised after watching us do our Portuguese homework. I think he despairs at how we’re abusing his native tongue.
