People need to stop trying to make disengaging into some strategic move. You didn't figure out how an administration is trying to trick you into protesting. You're just saying you don't want to take a specific action. There's a difference, and they'll move their agenda forward with or without you.

Too many people keep saying, “They're just trying to get a reaction out of us.” A fascist government is not your petty ex. They don't need a reaction out of you. They're carrying out their agenda whether you react or not. Talking about the administrators of a fascist state like this is so detached.

“The [Weather Underground] slogan… create two, three, many John Browns… substitutes the heroic actions of a few whites for the heroic actions of the masses of white workers. The real slogan that must be put forward is — create two, three, many million John Browns.” abolitionnotes.org/noel-ignatie...

Cincinnati was a positive example of what anti-fascism could look like in the coming years.

Today at 12, the Bundestag remembers the victims of the Nazi regime. Afterwards, the CDU/CSU will put forward resolutions for mass deportations, making German citizenship revocable for the first time since 1945, and the abolition of dual citizenship, and plans to pass these with Nazi votes.

Before “the final solution” (extermination) there were mass deportation plans, the Madagascar plan as well as deportation plans to Palestine and Siberia. The deportation apparatus became the death machine, the detention camps became the death camps.

As long as humanity has existed we have moved around the world, experimented with our genders and sexuality, and practiced mutual aid. The state/capital, even more so fascism, are far newer impositions on our species. We will continue to exercise these freedoms long after they cease to exist.

Credit where credit is due. The Chicago Teachers Union fought CPS to make this policy!
Also, thank you to @ctulocal1.bsky.social for pushing for our district to adopt sanctuary policies!

There is a lot to hate about how Chicago Public Schools functions as an enterprise, but the clear language they've laid out in how they deal with ICE should be a model for all schools across the country.

Trump's immigration policy is performative violence intended to pacify restless white people. But it won't actually improve their lives—only raise their relative status by ruining others' lives.

And what Trump does to the undocumented today will eventually be done to others.

I am following the cue of Gazans celebrating on the streets and trying to feel some joy. I’m facing how numb I’ve become in order to survive. I longed for this moment for 467 days, and it’s here. And I don’t know how to access my feelings about it.

Democrats only have themselves to blame for yet again allowing Trump to position himself as an anti-war figure, despite his clear militarism and territorial expansionism.

Thank God. Ceasefire seems to be moving forward. But also a reminder that ceasefire is not enough. We deserve more than just an end to slaughter.

“But regardless of whatever else musk is saving the environment” is the last gasp of delusion for benevolent capitalists. It feels almost quaint as these capitalists themselves remove the mask and openly embrace fascism and climate denial.

AI is a more than a dead-end: it is death. The death of creativity, the death of the paid artist, and the death of the environment. But, hey! Some rich people got even more money, and lazy people got a shitty image or text.
reminder AI "art" is a climate change escalation movement

I will always rant about the creative reality of being fundamentally human in expression and can't be automated, but I think it's most important to make sure every time you see an ai image, you're closer to a seasonal disaster killing you
Disgusted and disappointed to see the Mucha Museum creating and promoting A¡ artwork, then doubling down after receiving valid criticism. They could have used their platform to uplift human artists but chose to support inethical practices instead. What is the art world coming to?

so far, seems like the first few victims are black folks who've lived in altadena for several generations and were trying so hard to hold onto their homes that they were willing to fight off the flames by themselves. man, they are so familiar to me. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/09/u...
Who Are the Victims of the Los Angeles Fires?
At least five people died in fires raging across Los Angeles. Several of them lived near each other in the ravaged Altadena neighborhood.
