Big home team guy.
Being told that the Grey Cup halftime act is not in fact a heavily armed former coach Mike Kelly returning to town to settle a few old scores

The Grey Cup Fan Experience is humming today #Winnipeg
November 15, 2025 at 6:42 PM
The last Grey Cup to be played in Winnipeg was in 2015. The upstart Ottawa Redblacks, then in their second year, made it to the final to take on Edmonton. Local enthusiasm was pretty low for this one as the Bombers were coming off a few terrible years...

Another walk down Winnipeg Grey Cup memory lane, this time to 2006. By this point the City of Winnipeg, the Bombers and the CFL had bounced back from their late 90s malaise and this was a much better experience than the last one in 1998.

Yesterday it was the 1991 Grey Cup, today I'll look back at the 1998 Grey Cup.

This one was the opposite of 1991. The hype of that year was replaced by malaise about everything... the Bombers (who were terrible), the CFL (which had barely survived a crisis) and even Winnipeg itself...

The arena is very nice and very well used, but it's over 50 years old. I wonder at what point Brandon starts kicking the tires on a new barn? And if so, where would it go?

I love how WestJet makes you acknowledge that their ultra basic fares suck before they actually let you book it

Seeing online chatter among CPL fans about the fate of Valour FC. Apparently they aren't selling season tickets for 2026 nor are they processing renewals, and it's driving speculation that the club is effectively dead.

Grey Cup week in Winnipeg always brings back memories of 1991. The hype and excitement that year were off the chart, and the game at old Winnipeg Stadium didn't disappoint.

It was back when the Grey Cup was still firmly in the national spotlight.

It's cool to see that the PWHL is coming to Winnipeg in March. But you don't have to wait for them to come to town to enjoy elite women's hockey... the U of M Bison women have been serving it up for 25 years.

So we have a Montreal-Saskatchewan Grey Cup, and if I were a betting man, I'd wager on a Montreal-Saskatchewan Vanier Cup too

That's a great mural.

On a related note, I miss the banners up in the rafters at the old Winnipeg Arena that commemorated Winnipeg's Stanley Cup victories...
