Big home team guy.
...and there was little expectation that they would be contenders. It was the first Grey Cup in the new staddum which had some extra seating in the south endzone.

The Eskimos defense dug in to pull out the win, which was that franchise's last moment of glory before going into a decade long tailspin

In this game, the BC Lions were favorites and they got the job done. In the post game celebration, the Lions ended up separating the cup from its base.

This was the third and last Grey Cup game that was played at venerable CanadInns Stadium.

(still reeling from the loss of the Jets and was losing population in those days). The Grey Cup was a tough sell with many empty seats. But those of us who went enjoyed an exciting game in great conditions as Mark McLoughlin scored the game winning FG with no time left to get Calgary the win.

I sat up in the south end zone cheap seats that year. My student ticket was $45 and to that point it was the most I had ever spent on a sports ticket. The view was pretty good but I was disappointed that I couldn't see the portable big screen that was set up in our end.
