The shootout is beginning to feel like a relic. It was always a gimmick aimed at American fans in new markets but it's outived its usefulness. Now it just feels old and shopworn.
10 minutes of 3x3 hockey to showcase the league's great talents, then call it a tie.
And drop the silly loser point.

Cheering for the Als tonight kind of feels like how cheering for the Bombers did this season

Let's go Al's, comeback quarter incoming

Why Montreal, you ask? Because if they win, I won't have to deal with a single insufferable Als fan for the next year

Wake up Alouettes 😬

Gotta give the devil his due, that was an impressive Rider drive on the back of AJ Ouelette

The vaunted Alouettes defense is asleep at the switch on this Riders drive

Nice drive by the Alouettes to score the first touchdown in the Grey Cup. They had to go for it on 3rd and 1...

Ok no more throws into double coverage, Davis

What happened to the individual player introductions? When did that stop being a thing?

Grey Cup Sunday is finally here. Feels a bit like a full circle moment, I went to my first one in 1991 when I was 12, today I'm taking my 12 year old to his first.

It'll be Grey Cup #10 for me.

Being told that the Grey Cup halftime act is not in fact a heavily armed former coach Mike Kelly returning to town to settle a few old scores

CFL commissioner Stewart Johnston did a lot of talking in Winnipeg, to fans and the media, on Friday. How much he listened is another story.

The Grey Cup Fan Experience is humming today #Winnipeg
November 15, 2025 at 6:42 PM
The last Grey Cup to be played in Winnipeg was in 2015. The upstart Ottawa Redblacks, then in their second year, made it to the final to take on Edmonton. Local enthusiasm was pretty low for this one as the Bombers were coming off a few terrible years...

Another walk down Winnipeg Grey Cup memory lane, this time to 2006. By this point the City of Winnipeg, the Bombers and the CFL had bounced back from their late 90s malaise and this was a much better experience than the last one in 1998.

Yesterday it was the 1991 Grey Cup, today I'll look back at the 1998 Grey Cup.

This one was the opposite of 1991. The hype of that year was replaced by malaise about everything... the Bombers (who were terrible), the CFL (which had barely survived a crisis) and even Winnipeg itself...

The arena is very nice and very well used, but it's over 50 years old. I wonder at what point Brandon starts kicking the tires on a new barn? And if so, where would it go?

I love how WestJet makes you acknowledge that their ultra basic fares suck before they actually let you book it

Seeing online chatter among CPL fans about the fate of Valour FC. Apparently they aren't selling season tickets for 2026 nor are they processing renewals, and it's driving speculation that the club is effectively dead.

Grey Cup week in Winnipeg always brings back memories of 1991. The hype and excitement that year were off the chart, and the game at old Winnipeg Stadium didn't disappoint.

It was back when the Grey Cup was still firmly in the national spotlight.
