The Gods Above share Heavens where their loyal adherents and those worthy join them in service or celebration for eternity after death.

The Gods Beneath have Hells where those who serve their ends well may be exalted in death. And those who fail the tests of the Gods Above suffer to expiation.
Hey there, #FebruaryWorldbuilders. We're getting weird this week and talking about metaphysical aspects of our worlds. Do you have any nonphysical realms? Dream worlds, mind worlds, spiritual realms, a space of pure mathematics, etc. What are they in your setting?

Every person is born with an inner world called a myslemir. It exists within the soul and holds the person's mind. A person's myslemir changes as they grow and reflects that person in some way. It can look like anything: the indoors, the outdoors, a weird dreamscape, empty

A Tawny Owl roosting only a few minutes from our doorstep. Lovely to see, had it to ourselves and left it alone after just a couple of minutes with the camera at a respectable distance.

From my 19th century gay romance WIP set in England. Yearning is all you can do when your lover became your father-in-law and you live under the same roof. (cw is exactly that, age gap and "scandalous" stuff 😌)

As a servant of the Gray Lady, Spencer interacts with the Veil frequently. The Veil is like a waiting room for the dead, where they go before they move on to the afterlife of their choice. It lays under the living 🧵

These excerpts come from The Knightbane's Prize, Caer y Môn and Of Dina & Dan. All of which feature a little bit of yearning between Ata's adoptive mother Queen Ifon and her surrogate father / teacher Sir Corbyn. It's a real slowburn.

Tell me what y'all think!

Welsh Mythology treats the "otherworld" or annwn pretty strangely compared to other Mythologies. It's not really a separate realm, just a distant or unfamiliar kingdom. I don't think I'll feature it in my stories, Raven & Bear is non-magical.

A stunning carpet of white and purple at Altamont Gardens today. The moss on these old trees makes the colours pop incredibly well. Spring is definitely peeking through! 🌿

My urban fantasy novel, Forgotten Gods, has a prehistoric bull god say he knew the Christian God. He implied the latter started out as just another local god tied to a small tribe of primitive humans until he started killing other gods and taking their cults.
In my dark fantasy series: Plight of the Last Paladin, the stand in for the Christian God is literally *missing,* and humans call them: the Unnamed.

What's your most blasphemous bit of world building?

But the body of water that actually *is* named is the Dark Ocean/Sea depending on who you ask

Located to the east of the East Library, the Dark Ocean is the...

Ata is the most interesting character to answer. She uses each evenly but I emphasise her sense of smell and ability to see in the dark. After all, she is "Bear-Girl". This teaser has good examples.

There is Colel Lake, which is the largest lake in the region. There's an island at the center of it, which has a smaller lake within.

It's of political importance because the city-state of Colel-Cab was built around the island, and it's the closest the stories have to an overarching villain.

The most impactful are the Sisters, the 3 rivers flowing out of the mountains and across the Great Fens. They flood during summer rains, which is what keeps the wetlands wet. They also brought down an empire, sort of. 🧵
