From my 19th century gay romance WIP set in England. Yearning is all you can do when your lover became your father-in-law and you live under the same roof. (cw is exactly that, age gap and "scandalous" stuff 😌)

Days followed during which rain was pouring almost all day, mercilessly. Even if Edward kept Aloysius close to involve him with the estate’s affairs, they couldn’t go out riding, couldn’t really touch, nor kiss. Playing their roles, even if it was increasingly difficult for Aloysius, to keep a mask on when Edward was doing it with such perfection that Aloysius felt fooled sometimes, even of deep down he knew the truth, it caved in a bit under those cool blue eyes, his distant tone, and polite behaviour. So much so, that one day, when the rain was hammering at the windows and they were in the office, their desks facing each other, Aloysius couldn’t hold back, close to bursting with his insecurities and doubts. His yearning too. That need.
“Are you even in love with me?” Flinching at how loud they had seemed, those few words bursting in that room filled with rain songs and logs cracking in the fireplace.
Edward raised his eyes from his books, almost a tiny fright there when it veiled over with anger. “Keep your voice down.”
Aloysius sighed. “Are you?” Soft, with that desperate edge.
Edward put the quill back into its stand. “You should not say such words in here. We are surrounded by ears.”
“I deserve an answer.”
Edward leant back, lacing his hands together. “You know the answer.”
“Do I?” He had to bite off a whine.
“Aloysius, this is not the time nor the place for you to throw a tantrum.”

“It’s not a tantrum!” Mad, he almost got up. “Not a tantrum when all I get is you being so distant, I have doubts sometimes that maybe this is all we will ever have, that maybe you have made your peace with…this… and I cannot… I cannot live like this…” He clenched his fists together to keep his hands from trembling.
“This is what you get because I cannot give you anything else but what is appropriate and sane in this situation we are in. You know the dangers. Please try to maintain some sort of discipline.” He glanced at the door, lowering his voice. “Especially in the house, in broad daylight.”
Aloysius scoffed, bitter. “Does this mean I can be less discreet at night?”
“If you can manage to sneak out.” This time, a small smile played on his lips.
Aloysius’ tears had flown to his throat. He looked at the rain, bitter.
Edward watched him, his heart aching. Fuck. He got up and walked over to Aloysius’ desk. Looking down into those puzzled eyes veiled with tears.
He tipped his chin up. “You will be the death of us, love.”
“I am sorry.”
“No, you are not.”
Glancing at the door, listening for steps, he leant down to Aloysius and sealed his lips which had opened at his touch. Lashing his tongue on Aloysius’, pressing that small moan back into his throat as his thumb stroked his tears off, gliding along his jaw. Daring to make that deep kiss last a bit to give Aloysius something to subsist on. Breaking it then, not wanting to risk anything more.
Aloysius’ eyes shone as he leant into his palm. “Thank you…”
“You insufferable imp.” A small smack on his jaw, watching his eyes flood with that light he so loved. “Incorrigible.”

Welsh Mythology treats the "otherworld" or annwn pretty strangely compared to other Mythologies. It's not really a separate realm, just a distant or unfamiliar kingdom. I don't think I'll feature it in my stories, Raven & Bear is non-magical.

My urban fantasy novel, Forgotten Gods, has a prehistoric bull god say he knew the Christian God. He implied the latter started out as just another local god tied to a small tribe of primitive humans until he started killing other gods and taking their cults.

Ata is the most interesting character to answer. She uses each evenly but I emphasise her sense of smell and ability to see in the dark. After all, she is "Bear-Girl". This teaser has good examples.

There is Colel Lake, which is the largest lake in the region. There's an island at the center of it, which has a smaller lake within.

It's of political importance because the city-state of Colel-Cab was built around the island, and it's the closest the stories have to an overarching villain.

The most impactful are the Sisters, the 3 rivers flowing out of the mountains and across the Great Fens. They flood during summer rains, which is what keeps the wetlands wet. They also brought down an empire, sort of. 🧵

It had been the smiles and kisses, the two years of promises, all the nice things in between the hard parts. The names of the children they’d planned to have. The way he constantly reminded her how lucky she was to have him. She'd believed him. Letting go of her plans with Everett had been too hard to swallow. Nora had never been an especially adaptable person. It's why she'd lied to herself for so long. She'd even been considering if she could forgive the philandering. What finally broke her was when he looked her in her eyes and pleaded, as if he were the victim.
"I'm doing the best I can," He'd said. "You know you're a hard woman to love, Nora. How can you blame me?"
She didn't cry in front of him. That was later. Instead, she put in notice at her job and quietly made arrangements to go back to Avalon, alone. When she disappeared, the note she left him on top of every gift he'd ever given her said, "I may be hard to love, but I'm not a doormat."

Grilled watches an execution.

The judge stood atop the gallows and gave a speech that Grilled could not have cared any less about. Blah blah justice and laws and punishment, but also redemption in the eyes of the Gods, blah blah. While he yammered on, Grilled sought out a better viewing angle. He was small and knew he could hang onto a downspout rainwater pipe for a long time. Whoever owned the building had gotten cute and installed a tiny decorative water wheel at the top. For now, it served as a decent handhold for a small, light boy.
The condemned were brought up one at a time, their crimes announced to the crowd, and the punishment carried out. The poachers were to be flogged thirty times before their death by hanging. The two murderers would endure worse torture than flogging before suffering their deaths by being broken on the wheel, their limbs woven through, and then the wheels perched above for carrion birds to consume until the corpses were destroyed by shinigami.
