Beginning Monday with a cracking headache.

I witnessed a little old lady hit a stallholder with an umbrella at an RHS flower show. Why? Because she wanted a discount on the plants that the stallholder was not prepared to give.
One of the things you learn sooner or later if you deal with all ages of the public is that while lovely little old ladies undeniably exist, there are also horrible mean bigoted old ladies and they get away with *a shit tonne* of awful behaviour just on account of not being dead yet.
That WW2 veteran who says that winning the war "wasn't worth it" for the state we are now in is just plain wrong.

Naziism was an evil that caused the deaths of millions and the systematic murder of millions more. Defeating it was necessary.

We need to stop treating every old person as a holy sage.

Which came first, the word 'puss' or the 'pspsps' sound?

This is brilliant news, and I'm sure it's a coincidence that a few years after I stopped sponsoring turtles, they've started to recover. Dare I start, or would that jinx it?🐢

Typical of the Brits to get an immigrant to do the hard physical labour.
I have so many questions about this

Middle-aged me is very impressed at B*Witched bouncing through this song (which is as cringe as I remember it being). Oh to have the energy of a young person again! #totp

Civil registration of births, marriages, and deaths began in 1837 in England. It took 59 years, until 1896, for the uncommon spelling of my (our) first name to appear.

She lived to be 86 years old. I wonder how much of it she spent speling her name out loud for other people.

Well THAT caught me by surprise. The emergency alert alarm worked this time, unlike the previous trial. Hallelujah, I shall get notice of my impending doom as the Apocalypse starts.

This was a suggestion for my current place of employment, which is is due to close. The problem is that it, and rest of the empty buildings on the industrial estate, is built on landfill. Decontaminating the site for residential use would strip any profit from putting housing on it.
simply ask oneself where the toilets are in an apartment building versus where the toilets are in an office building, and suddenly the problem doesn't seem so simple
Here’s an interesting fact:

We have literally TONS of open office spaces across America because many many people have not returned to working in offices after COVID and never will.

While at the same time, we have a massive shortage of habitable and affordable rentals.

Seems like we can actually

Watching cooking (not baking) shows in the UK and at some point almost everyone cooks Italian, Turkish, Indian, or Japanese dishes. I wonder, do cooking shows outside the UK feature British foods? Any cottage pies or cooked breakfasts? Do they do 'British Week'?

Luisa is a friend of mine and I'm really proud of her 😀
Actor Luisa Guerreiro is the bod behind Toxie in Macon Blair's THE TOXIC AVENGER, having the challenging task of channeling Peter Dinklage as Winston Gooze while buried under prosthetics and animatronics.

She's also an absolute delight.
How Actor Luisa Guerreiro Brought ‘The Toxic Avenger’ to Life as the Bod Behind Toxie
In the 1984 Troma cult classic, The Toxic Avenger, Toxie is played by multiple actors. Mark Torgl portrays the human Melvin Ferd Junko III, while Mitch Cohen plays the toxic-transformed version, with ...

Everytime I need to use fresh food up before it turns, my mind goes completely blank as to what I can do with it. Puff pastry? No idea. Cucumber and feta salad? Cannot think of a single thing this could accompany. Chutney? Nobody has ever worked out how to serve this. Broccoli? Never seen it before.

Archivists making an appearance in the Top 40 at no.31.

Last week, we took in a collection of 160 boxes. At no point is AI now it in the future helpful to physically move those boxes, catalogue the unsorted contents, or repackage into archival packaging.
i’ve been talking to my kid about AI and how it will impact the job market but apparently now there is a list of jobs with the top 40 already most and least impacted by AI

really, what kid doesn’t dream of growing up and being…an embalmer. a haz mat worker? roustabout?

I don't use AI because I am incredibly skeptical about how useful it actually is, but I decided to have a go.

Anyway, we've agreed that America doesn't exist and are possibly collaborators?

Yeah this is not good in the hands of people already on the edge.
