Interesting seeing i-frames for evasive moves in 3D melee action games take the same path as Coyote Time in platformers, where it went from small invincibility windows to make dodging attacks a bit more lenient, to large invincibility windows that the whole game has to be designed around

This is why Psyvariar is pure crack
one of the best pieces of video game criticism i stumbled across was in the middle of a fire emblem video and the youtuber didnt realise how foundational a take this was because it seems obvious but it was: the reward when levelling up is not primarily stats and utility, but shiny flashing lights

Just got to witness DUEL TO THE DEATH (1983). You should also watch DUEL TO THE DEATH (1983). They set out to make a chanbara movie and a wuxia movie simultaneously and crash those things together at high-speed, and they succeeded tremendously. Just sort of cackling in awe every few minutes
