My issue with wiggling to fire diagonally without moving too much in a run 'n gun without aim lock is that it just feels like ass to do. Would rather prefer something like Metal Slug's Heavy Machinegun doing a full 90-degree bullet sweep when you fire left/right to up or vice versa

Also possible that since arcadey games on consoles started being seen as budget titles after the PS1, that all the experienced 3D artists were transferred to bigger projects or just jumped ship entirely. G-Darius and such were relatively top-of-the-line games at the time

To me it feels like every low-to-mid budget 3D game on the PS2 that wasn't like a racing game, sci-fi/fantasy RPG or a platformer felt like it looked like this screenshot from Contra: Shattered Soldier. The age of washed out grungy textures

Sorry for the late response, I didn't have pings to my name be set to notify me, and I was doing some internal migrations so the e-mails weren't coming through for a while, but it should be fixed now. Anyways, I'm glad to hear about more SpikeOut info!
