This is it, if anyone's interested. It's a 2 or 3 colour stranded colourwork cowl, based on a sigil inspired by the Star card.

Hey Lovely

Can you do me a favour?
Can you unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders and roll them?
Now, can you stretch your body until you make that cute little noise?
Inhale 1 2 3 Exhale 1 2 3 4
Shake it all loose
Smile like you have a secret
Now have a good day on purpose

Luv you

Was struggling to find something yellow to post for this week's #showMeYourKnits without posting yet another cowl, forgetting this glorious crossbody bag I made a few months ago and use all the time and brings me All The Joy.
Slightly felted to prevent things slipping through any holes.

For the #knitsky crew... @terinskyweaver.bsky.social designs the most incredible patterns featuring custom sigils, designed in response to lived experience of disability & chronic pain.

This one is 'Hope Grows Roots'. Also check out 'Way Home' (short for 'may your pain guide the way home').
Excited to launch a new knitting pattern with Matariki and the solstice.
Here is the Hope Grows Roots Cowl, a 2 or 3 colour repeating pattern suggestive of leaves and flowers. Inspiring us as we turn hopes into stitches and actions for a better world together. 🧶 #knitsky

This new pattern is inspired by the Star card, perfect for Matariki and the Winter Solstice.
And invites us to ask:
1. Where do we get our nourishment?
2. What futures are we planting seeds for?
3. What are we pouring our love into?

✨ Mānawatia a Matariki ✨

Wishing you a peaceful and warm Matariki and Puanga weekend as we remember those we have lost, celebrate the present, and look forward to the promise of a new year.

Clothes continue to fascinate me because what we choose to wear is never ever neutral (even if we think it is - even the idea of neutral colours is not neutral!).

Clothes rest against our skin, intimately so. They signal who we are, how we live, and what our worldview is.

Just finished this cowl today, Hope Grows Roots, perfect timing for this week's #ShowMeYourKnits
so you can get the blocking mat photo
🧶
It gave me lots of me practice at 3-colour stranded knitting, though there's also a 2-colour version without any float management.
🧶
Pattern coming out soon.

To pompom or not to pompom, that is the question, #knitsky 🧶

I was going to post this colourwork beanie as my #showMeYourKnits #WIP but I accidentally finished knitting it, I was enjoying it so much (and that finished crown is so satisfying!) - though without a pompom, is it really complete?

Today’s advice from your Goth Auntie
-Blink a few times, drink some water, take your meds.
-Having a hard time coping doesn’t make you a failure.
-The monster under the bed is willing to share space if you need to hide for a bit.

one thing I believe is it’s important to celebrate good things 10x as hard and to look for them 10x as often because our animal brains are hard-wired to pay 10x as much attention to bad things; it keeps us alive, but it doesn’t keep us happy

happiness has to be fought for, survival will tend itself

We need to rediscover the magic and wonder in making things. No other animal on earth knits. Most humans can't make a pair of socks, and there's a moment where a person moves from not being able to make socks to being able to make socks and that's kind of magical. We should be excited about that.

You can be disabled, do all these things, and not become undisabled. And weirdly it's your fault for not trying hard enough.
You can eat all organic food, drink green juice every day, do yoga, get vitamin D and touch grass… and still become disabled.

Wellness culture can’t save you from disability. What’s worse, most wellness “gurus” will blame you when you become ill.

Wellness culture is toxic & eugenics adjacent.

I had the Six of Swords follow me around for 18 months until I made a knitting pattern from it. Did all the enquiry spreads, the journaling, everything I could think of. Wouldn't leave me alone. Until this. 🧶 Name is short for 'May your pain guide the way home'.

“What radicalized you?”
This, really
Continually amazed at how angry people get at the idea that everyone deserves food, water, shelter, safety, and the freedom to express themselves without bigotry or violence from others.
