Its about minerals in Greenland? In Trumps fever dream maybe, in reality physics and economics win. Thread via @CRUDEOIL231.

Exploring and mining in the Arctic is a literal hellscape. The constraints are insane and the costs to overcome 'em are mooning way past imagination. 1/

What's the reason, given or actual, for the police not to be in their HQ?

I get that we're saying anything we can to move the conversation away from the paedophile ring, but this is still an objectively insane headline which shows how far we have drifted into the evil mirror universe

Right. My students working two part time jobs and/or having an hour and a half commute to uni because they have to live at home due to the cost of student accommodation lack drive and vigour. Sure thing, Peter. The UK Govt still haven't a clue about the realities of universities today.

THIS is why faculty resist technological strategies for teaching. There is no engaging with Edtech without this context

On #enshittification, this is what the Guardian website looks like on my PC at the mo. The actual newspaper is the dark blue line in the middle (it doesn't change size when you scroll)

The hardest thing about leaving Birmingham has been seeing the city as it appears in the national news. This is just so deeply embarrassing www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...
What happened next: Maggots, rats and growing despair – a year of the Birmingham bin strike
Action began in January, before an all-out strike in March. For locals, the flytipping, vermin, maggots and mess are taking a huge environmental and emotional toll

I want to destroy the notion that STEM, humanities and arts, are separate units of knowledge and skill. And if you do one, you can't do other. I am a geologist, professional artist and trained in international relations. They all complement each other.
Anyway. They spent the last decade telling us STEM degrees were the future and the Humanities were worthless then they spent hundreds of billions of dollars to build a glitchy Humanities robot.

This is my favorite version of the AI push — we don’t have any real ideas for how you should use it, but it’s not going anywhere, so you had better figure out a use for it and then start using it quick!

Uh, no. I don’t think I will.
Figure out how to use it. Ostrich mode will help no one.

I’m sorry, but it is disgraceful to be an academic who uses this technology to conduct research. It should be prohibited in all of our scholarly institutions, including universities and journals.

David Brooks, who wrote in the NYT last month, "The Epstein Story? Count Me Out" is... in the latest Epstein photo dump published by @oversightdemocrats.house.gov.

He should absolutely be fired by NYT for this. Major conflict of interest that he didn't disclose.
