Aspiring writer of literary fantasy. (I aspire to write, to have it be literary-adjacent, and to have publishing not be a fantasy)

Californian and non-taciturn Estonian, kids, dog, and scaling down dreams.

Wanting the best for you, always

So, friends, I am certain all of you have hit periods of stunning unproductivity.

How have you escaped the morass?

I wonder if my presence on this platform will be short lived.

It seems that much isn't going to be contained to Meta and X.

This is one of the best standalone novels I've written, and I want to encourage you to preorder it. Preorders contribute to first week sales totals, create excitement in the industry, and encourage bookstores to stock the book.

Ah yes, fog on the ridges!
Mist morning in the Bohemian Switzerland NP, Czech Republic.

Diction is absolutely how I tell them apart. Vocabulary and sentence length. One has a tendency toward the poetic, and my scientist is the only one who gets to use Latinate words in her speech.
How do your characters talk? Do they have distinct speech pattern? Verbal tics? Catchphrases?

There is just such magic in fog on the ridges, a wistfulness that inspires, for me

May your year bring you rainy days by a warm fire, with a beloved dog beside you and all the adventures of the open page ahead.

For me, the mystery of the cold, misty morning on the sea has a draw like no other.

A question for game writers. Where do you find artists? Is it prohibitively expensive? I’m thinking it take a lot of sales at $5 each to make up the costs of art.

I have written some adventures that I am happy with and was thinking of publishing those

I am getting a little writing getaway for myself with family and it got me wondering whether anyone would be interested in a low cost DIY retreat set up.

I find a nice VRBO in a beautiful place and we get together and write. No frills, just writers supporting each other

Anyone interested?

Got to contemplate the year’s last light at the edge of the continent with friends.

What a year that was.

Now we stare into the darkness of the next year, awaiting the light

So, I discovered my new favorite writing tool

Big sheets of paper for laying out plots!

11x17 for now. I am not sure how my wife will react to lining a wall with butcher paper.

Maybe a big dry erase board?

Today I pack the house to give room for the flooring guys to replace our rapidly deteriorating carpet with some lovely very hard bamboo. (Dogs are not kind to carpet which gave more than it was ever intended to)

Ok, so I am going slowly

Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.

Some of my friends think it's crummy that Mrs. Claus never has a story other than being Santa's wife, so they've taught their kid that it's Santa Claus and Dr. Claus—she's a professor of arctic studies with a lab at the North Pole, which is how she and Santa met.

UK WRITERS: You need to fill in this consulation. Govt is very clearly looking to an opt-out model of rights licensing that puts all the burden on creators instead of profiteers. It's long and boring but this is important.

Copyright and Artificial Intelligence
This consultation seeks views on how the government can ensure the UK’s legal framework for AI and copyright supports the UK creative industries and AI sector together.

Sorry, Latvians, but this business of bringing an evergreen inside and putting lights on it is an Estonian invention.

I don’t care what you Germans say, either.

So, it turns out that my gamer style is "tourist."

Show me a story in a beautiful place I want to visit and I'm happy. This also explains why it takes me months to finish games. I'm too busy running around soaking up every lovely detail.
