Comic artist and illustrator, rejoining the creative community. Sometimes funny, sometimes charming, and sometimes strange. Politically enraged. Poly, pan, genderfluid. Older than you, probably.

As a cartoonist, felt. And I love this comic, regardless

Wow. An ad that’s a full-throated understanding and specific support of the LGBTQIA+ community. I’m impressed to the level of “Can this ad truly be coming from a Democrat?” level of impressed
I wrote a little about some of the little details you might have missed in this video and why it hit me so hard as a trans person this morning:

And also hello to everyone else who (if not for autocorrect) would carry a dictionary with perhaps 3 pages for those words they will never never ever spell correctly

My nemesis is “silhouette”
hello to everyone else who had no idea how you were supposed to pronounce “foyer” or “hors d'oeuvres” to the point that you heard both of them in real life and didn’t connect them to the words you read in books for years
former kids who read too many books and didnt know how to pronounce the words you learned gang say hey

I did a zine workshop last month where I also emphasized this as much as possible, someone came up to me to thank me after, saying having 'permission' for it to be messy meant that could get over wanting everything to be perfect, first time in years they were able to finish a creative project

Me: 😭
i just did a workshop with kids about making comics. emphasized that ANYONE can make comics. you don't have to be a "good" artist. you find a story that matches your art style and you do it and it's awesome. and a kid who NEVER PARTICIPATES got out from under a desk and PARTICIPATED and had a blast.

My head breaks with the state of the world. So this is the state of my art. Undecided about adding color. Ink & paper & various smudges from tree goop. After Max Ernst’s collage.

I don't want to condemn itch, (who, if the quoted numbers are right, has their library cut down to a QUARTER with this choice), but this is a giant blow for queer comics, including me, who re/built their pdf storefronts on itch because they were one of the few platforms left to sell nsfw work.

There are vanishingly few places for adults to sell works of art to adults online thanks to the christofascist policies of payment processors deciding what is allowed. Artists are watching their entire income and livelihoods disappear overnight. Please help us and sign.
This itch.io NSFW policy change is unfortunately nothing new, the problem isn't the platforms themselves but rather Visa/MC strong-arming these services into revising their NSFW policies.
So if you're eligible I invite you to sign this ACLU petition: action.aclu.org/petition/mas...
Mastercard: Sex Work is Work. End Your Unjust Policy.
Mastercard's new policy unfairly targets the adult content industry, making sex workers more vulnerable, especially Black trans women. It must be stopped.

Here's a screenshot of the email I sent to Visa about this. Collective action *can* make a difference in times like this, and sending a letter takes as little as a couple of minutes.

Perfect web host for comics, for those of us who don’t want to stick our hands back under the HTML hood
bsky.app/profile/just...
lrp rly great resource, and to add specifically for comic hosting, rarebit is a 100% free & accessible template that just uses basic html/css + some javascript if you want a comic site independent of places like webtoon / tapas! its not live yet but i use rarebit for my comic site & it works well!!

Indulging my love of drawing musicians while they play. The darkness of the club made it nearly impossible for me to correct anything I drew. The music was tango, it was incredible. (Drawn with a gel pen, augmented the next day with ink and colored pencils)

this is getting next to no media attention and it’s horrifying. transphobes weren’t going to stop at bathrooms, no hormones for minors, they are going to keep pushing until it’s entirely illegal and no one is standing up for us other than trans people

Am I reposting this thread on ADHD on cooking so my ADHD self can find it again? Absolutely. Thank you for posting this, Nome. I was terrible at cooking for years for all the reasons you talk about
You know what, this is probably as good a time as any to port over a thread that folks really asked for -

#Cooking while #ADHD.

Because it turns out, cooking is a multi-step process, that requires (often) exact timing, and is full of sensory information. SO NONE OF OUR STRENGTHS.

This is one part of why I wake up in full Flight or Fight mode every day that I look at the world. Because – with or without resistance – this “kill the deviants” onslaught is coming for all of us that it hasn’t gotten to yet. And by “us”, I mean whoever is declared an enemy tomorrow.
so, this is that. KOSA, SCREEN, internet obscenity definition act—whatever you call it—this is where trans people are declared inherently obscene.

can they do that? trans troops were just kicked out of the armed forces for being inherently deceitful & dishonorable, so probably! unless people fight.

My ADHD mind loves the positivity and simplicity of making and moving on. It lessens my fear of cartooning. I am good at what I do. I’m afraid to start again. My mind will keep hurting me if I never make comics again

Make comics. Actually make them and FINISH them and MOVE ON and make another one and another. Start small. Make a one panel comic. Make a one page comic. Make a two or three page comic. Make a five page comic. Now you've really learned something! Keep going.
