Also if a game does use genAI shit, there's a good chance it's a sign of cut corners in general. So even if you don't care about the creative people hurt by it or the environmental costs (though you SHOULD), it's also a poor sign of how good the game can even be.
Hate the argument of "Well you can boycott for now, but soon every game studio is going to use genAI and you won't be able to tell or avoid it anymore!!"

I'm not pleased to hear this news about an unnecessary talking companion in MP4, but:
1) I doubt the game as a whole will be as bad/worse than Other M.
2) Metroid in the modern era keeps wanting to put in guides/companions because Samus herself doesn't talk (except Other M, of course).

There was an alchemy to the Stan Lee-Jack Kirby partnership in the 60s, but anyone who thinks Jack couldn't write his own comics doesn't know how hard he could go with his 70s work.

Every time I hear people (almost always cishet white men, o course) mad about something that's not for them anyway, I just think about how much of their life they're wasting on anger. Not only is it fine for something to not be made for you, it's arguably better FOR YOU that those niches exist.
