Wow! I didn’t know I could walk on the creek when it was frozen. This is interesting - a new vantage point to pick up scents. I know the beavers have been feeding under the brush here.

How did the @nytimes.com editors let this sentence appear?

Trump says he’ll pardon a former Honduras leader convicted of taking millions of dollars in bribes from drug traffickers. A U.S. prosecutor said Juan Orlando Hernández “paved a cocaine superhighway to the U.S.”
More evidence that Trump’s threats against Venezuela have nothing to do with drugs.

They’re coming for freedom of the press.

The regime wants state run media.

Trump’s approval rating is a disaster.

He’s been called out for war crimes and murder in Latin America.

He’s threatening to de-naturalize citizens.

State run media means you won’t hear about any of it.

Resist.

Climate change has to become a priority for Democrats. There is no excuse for ignoring the climate change consequences we’ve already been facing, & we know worse climate change environmental effects are on the way.
Since the beginning of 2025, Democrats have pulled back from talking about climate change, according to data analyzed by The Post.
At the same time, nations and companies have been whittling down their goals — or going silent on the issue entirely.
The big issue Democrats have stopped talking about
A Washington Post analysis of Democratic lawmakers’ appearances and social media posts show they are going quiet on climate.

Time to turn the tables on Trump.

Anytime now, someone in the press crowd could point at him & call out when he’s saying something stupid: “Quiet, Piggy, just STFU !!”
I don't know why the "Piggy" thing is bothering me so much. It's one more unforgivable thing in a list of 20,000 unforgivable things, but I've been mad about it for like 12 straight hours.

"If Trump’s first term was marked by a level of graft and self-dealing that would have embarrassed a Tammany stalwart, then his second term seems to be an explicit effort to outpace his previous record and set a new high-water mark for political corruption in the [US]."

which is not an accident…
I often wonder if Trump ever sees the photos from the official White House photographer before they go out because they frequently make him look like a lunatic

This is so tragic and unnecessary. My prayers go out to her family and loved ones.
Sarah Beckstrom's ex-boyfriend told NBC News she dreamed of becoming an FBI special agent.

She didn't want to deploy to D.C.

"She hated it. She cried about it."

But she started visiting monuments and museums and started enjoying it.

May she rest in peace.

WHOA. Trump says he will pardon Juan Orlando Hernandez, who once said that he wanted to “shove the drugs right up the noses of the gringos.” He had people killed as part of his narco-trafficking ring, which he at times operated directly out of his presidential office.

Announcing this not just on a Friday, but on the most holiday weekend of all Fridays, def shows how proud Northwestern’s admins must feel for caving in to bad faith attacks like this.

And, in the process, leaving all universities that still have a spine in more vulnerable positions than before.
BREAKING: Northwestern University has agreed to pay the U.S. Treasury $75 million, over the course of three years as part of an agreement with the federal government to restore funding and end investigations into the university

In case you’re wondering why Pete Hegseth is freaking out about a congressional video reminding the military not to participate in illegal orders:
To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing

"Two survivors were clinging to the smoldering wreck. The Special Operations commander overseeing the Sept. 2 attack ... ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions."

Hope matters, but without a clear map of how the system is failing, it can’t change anything. The slide happens because core democratic functions are weakening under real structural pressures. Naming that isn’t surrender, it’s the work required to understand what has to be rebuilt.

Trump is out of his fucking mind!
The cognitive dissonance here is insurmountable. Trump’s agenda is not in the best interests of the United States.
Trump has betrayed his oath of office & betrays the American people everyday.

Trump’s attempt at deal to end Israel’s sadistic, scorched earth war against Palestinians in Gaza didn’t work out. Israel’s carnage continues in Gaza.

The same goes for Trump’s “peace deal” to end Russia’s illegal war against Ukraine.

Trump works for Netanyahu & Putin.

⚠️ Let’s face it ⚠️

The president is psychiatrically ill.

This was evident in 2015, & his illness has continually gotten worse. Just take a few minutes & think about all the weird, bizarre, insane things he’s said & done. Pretending that he’s okay when clearly he’s not, puts the country in danger.
It should go without saying, but the president has no authority to do this, and anyone reporting the story needs to say as such.

The president is such a bumbling idiot he thinks tweeting out the word "hereby" a couple times on his white supremacist social media site is the same thing as making an actual law.

The only story here is the one about a mentally diminished, increasingly erratic president who thinks he's a king.
