Of course this is most obvious with Grok, The Fascism and CSAM Machine, but it is a broader tendency of the technology: if you outsource thinking, values and creativity to a machine, then the fellow who designs and calibrates the machine has a big lever in your mind.

The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

There's studies suggesting that AI usage is causing cognitive decline, even when it's not causing psychosis and encouraging its users to harm themselves and others, just regular old usage is damaging. Far from a "cognitive amplifier" like this slop peddler suggests, it's a cognitive atrophier.

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Some of the imagery and speech audio in the in-game TV programs are AI generated. Some of the in-game radio music is AI generated. as someone who's found a lot of fun diving into the files and textures and radio tracks (of My Summer Car) & studying them closely for the sake of delicately modifying them by hand, i find it not just Upsetting but Insulting that toplessgun has decided it's not worth it to put his own effort into the character of his game. you don't have to accept the "future" of genAI in videogames, and i think it's especially important to push back against that in a "homemade" genre like indie games, where devs with no money may feel enticed to use the "make it for me" button. i play indies for the passion and the love and the human nature devs put into their work, not because i want more chores-slop on ice. i will not be purchasing or playing My Winter Car and i'd encourage you not to as well.

But for a copy to be more widely distributed than the original is a very bad symptom. Without focusing on anyone, I think that some big accounts hardly create original content and just post other people's content, often without quoting the author, and that's very uncool. Respect and honesty above all else. Let's play fair.
