We offered a virtual #HandsOff protest, which was organized by #ChronicPain patients in the #Diasability community & will keep it up for these reasons. More info from @10minutesaday.bsky.social & @diyabled.bsky.social ! 💜 www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
For some disabled protestors, “Hands Off” went virtual

Ableism is so pervasive & normalized that we have so called leftists attacking disabled people for being unable to protest. Telling them the stakes are “too high to stay home”

These same people do nothing to make protests accessible.

There can’t be social justice without disability justice

hi, cis folks!

the comment period for the proposed rule to remove trans care from the ACA as an essential health benefit is open til april 11. it'd strip care from DACA recipients, too.

context & guidance in the thread. do it while you’re still fired up from/about protests.

only 4.5 days left!
hi, cis folks!

if we *are* going to talk ACA, RFK's HHS proposed a rule to remove *all trans care* from ACA essential health benefit status.

~25mil people are insured by ACA & if 1% are trans, that's 250,000 people who'd lose access to care.

that's bad! take 2 minutes to stand with trans people.🧵

“You do you” Covid policies left many of us with N95s as our main line of defence against repeat infection.

Respirators make public spaces accessible. They allow us to attend healthcare appointments without forced infection.

Cutting the people who ensure their quality will endanger disabled lives.
Among cuts at HHS: most of the workers at NIOSH, incl Pittsburgh national lab that approves and ensures continued quality of respirators - N95s + breathing devices for firefighters, miners, people working w chemicals, construction dust. “Nothing is happening to make sure they continue to be safe”
On Elon Musk and RFKjr's devastation of NIOSH:
"It’s a small thing, but it’s massive in terms of its impact and its importance,” said John McDonough, professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. “And they’ve just wiped it off the face of the Earth.” @megtirrell.bsky.social

Own DVDs. Own Vinyl. Own CDs. Own books. Own maps. Own ART!!
We are in an era of digital streamed media that can be cut off at any moment. We need to start storing off-grid hard copies of EVERYTHING. Hardly anyone under the age of 40 owns anything anymore. Backup whatever you can and protect it.

Someone asked me if I ever thought my platform would be so political, given that I started as a teacher.

This is me pre-Frazzled-social-media.

So…I definitely had a feeling!

A reminder that fiction — books, film, games, what have you — is always political. The willful absence of “politics” in any work is itself a political choice and a political act. Who gets to tell (and sell) stories is political. It might be an undercurrent — covert, not overt. But it’s there.

I cannot, during these horrific times, recommend enough the importance of making pockets of time to just do things that are not related to anything but the joy of being alive and playing. You need it. You do. It will keep you whole. Which we need. We need you whole.
