The militant childfree brigade never seem to realise that parental leave is primarily for the benefit of the child so that it can have a full-time carer in the first year of its life; it's not a holiday for the parent.

Making George Street a place for people was the dream of Professor Jan Gehl, backed by the City Council and delivered by the State Government. There was a big push back on plans, but *look* at the outcome!

Listening to Rachel Stevens's second album "Come and get it", which is a really good album (if course it is – the producer credits are basically the who's who of early 2000s electropop).

Doing this has been useful to me. I had thought that I had knitted 13 pairs or socks so far this year, and I have been rushing to finish the pair I'm currently working on so that I didn't end the year with 13, but it turns out that I missed a pair and the current WIP is pair 15.
I have just cast on the second sock of the 37th pair of socks I've knitted since 2020, so I've done a little analysis on my socks because I am a nerd.
About two-thirds of my socks were knitted toe-up. A third were fingering weight and just under a half were DK. I used magic loop for half of them. 🧶

Timehop reminds me it is 8 years since I had to air dry after a shower in an unheated bathroom in Hessle because the guy I was, let's say visiting, refused to give me a towel, saying that his mum counted the towels every day so she'd know an extra one had been used.

tbh I did ask my uncle that once. He said the only way to cook them was to boil them with a rock and when the rock was soft, eat the rock and throw away the bird
