Lino Print of the Week 🐟

And just like that, it’s the start of a new week. Best tackled in company.
Yaaaasssss! Mum made me my favourite Dhokra (a delicious savoury sponge).

When my husband first tried it, years ago he thought it was just a normal cake, as has been traumatised ever since.

Good news, more for me.

Just gave my mum a business card, and she asked me if I work for Shell now 🫠

Share a photograph of mountains that you’ve taken.

This was from our Everest Base Camp trek. The whole landscape was stunning, so easy to take photos (of which I have a ton).

But this one makes me feel particularly small, in a very good way.

I should also say, the charity is called Tools for Self Reliance. I’m lucky enough to see the difference it makes to people every day.

If you want to set up your own fundraising activity, let me know 😊
Thank you x
Ahh my lovely mother-in-law did a little fundraiser today at her home selling cakes, scones, tea etc, and raised £160 for the charity I work for.

She apologised, that is wasn’t that much.

But for small charities like mine, it really does make a difference 🥹

Some breaking art historical news for you - a lost portrait of Robert Burns by Sir Henry Raeburn was unveiled today at the National Gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh. It’s been missing for more than 200 years.

This image was carved on the orders of an ageing autocrat to show an imaginary version of himself smiting his foes during a wildly exaggerated victory decades earlier.

It’s the kind of thing that unrestrained royal narcissists did thousands of years ago.

This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

Iconic imo

And a very special #CookbookCorner shoutout for Feast on your Life: Kitchen Meditations for Every Day by the exquisite writer Tamar Adler. This book of reflections and observations has the bare honesty of diary entries and the chiselled beauty of prose-poems. I’m so grateful that it’s in the world.
