Sunday, at least 7 ICE agents stormed a house and took an elderly man out into the freezing cold, wearing only his underwear and a blanket.

He was a member of the Hmong community, which came to the area from Laos in the 1970s after siding with the US in the Vietnam War.

2026 is going to be a very dark year for US foreign policy, where everything that was built over many decades by leaders for collective security is torn apart by one madman, but only because people in his own party remain silent.

Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.

see Bernie Sanders going "will that give us free health care" and others saying only that the US doesn't "need" Greenland instead of how horrifyingly wrong this whole thing is
see also Bernie who's only interested in how he can use it as a talking point about US economic issues instead of starting with how horrifying Trump wanting to invade an (until now) allied foreign country is

My law firm is currently litigation 81 voting and election cases in 40 states. This includes 11 redistricting lawsuits. It also includes 26 cases where we are litigating against the DOJ.

Elias Law Group only has 60 lawyers. Big Law firms have 1,000-2,000 lawyers. Where are they in this fight?

People should legit start playing this song when he’s around and everyone sing along. Completely serious. Nazis fucking hate when you make fun of them and if you get it to catch on, it will drive him and Trump nuts. Look what happened with the couch thing. It’s still brought up.
Oh man. It would be terrible if people started following Bovino around and playing Baby Shark. It would be terrible because he would hate it, and it would probably become his theme song, and it would make his Nazi in a long coat cosplay all the more ridiculous.

So no one should do that.

Reminder: you live next door to a star.

A ball of plasma held together in hydrostatic equilibrium that contains a nuclear fusion reactor in its core.

All those bright points of light in the sky at night .... one of them also lives in your daytime sky!
The Sun just produced a truly spectacular #SolarFlare! Although its flare classification (defined by its peak brightness at X-ray wavelengths) is not huge (X1.95), the physical volume of the flare is the biggest I’ve seen in a long time. Earth-directed too. What an event – wow!

Also: The Minnesota Historical Society has this flag but *doesn’t keep it on display,* because it’s, you know, a confederate flag and that’s gross.

So deeply Minnesotan. “We humiliated our opponent but the real prize is that we refuse to display the trophy. They know we have it.”
A good time to remind everyone of the Minnesota First. One of the earliest state militias to volunteer to fight in the Civil War—three years after joining the Union! Provided one of the essential turning points at Gettysburg. Took the flag of the Virginia regiment they captured AND STILL HAVE IT.

According to Brian Stelter, 60 Minutes is finally airing the "Inside CECOT" story that Bari Weiss shelved.

She made Sharyn Alfonsi fly to DC to get an interview with Tom Homan and Kristi Noem for the segment, but both refused.

So it'll run tonight -- with no promotion and against the NFL playoffs.

If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵
