i can ping my hue bridge with a 9 year old python library lmao what the fuck is going on with ai assistants?
In the past few weeks I have heard fancy enterprise AI consultants say big companies need to “get their data ready” for AI and been told that legacy smart home platforms aren’t built for AI assistants and my friends, this is the entire problem AI is supposed to solve

work anywhere that stresses "company culture" and watch how fast they throw it out the window to hold on to the quants
I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

what if the firehose of fascist shit isn't wiping out the memory of the electorate? what if it's just hitting different things? and idk it seems like a persisting problem to me that dems aren't in lockstep with and fully tied to no kings, possibly the biggest social movement in american history

lol I once worked with a head of sales who just blithely suggested finding creative directors at other agencies twice our size and cold emailing them asking if they were open to other opportunities. She truly didn’t understand why I couldn’t stop laughing
Bari Weiss’ interest in high-profile journalists under contract at rival networks has struck insiders as naïve, and raised questions about her recruiting tactics. Meanwhile, CBS News staffers are bracing for another round of layoffs.

Hello, yes, Kaiser Permanente? It’s me Steve. Sit down, we need to have a talk.
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

I’ve been thinking a lot about the tea party and how they just started showing up to shit and yelling at people. But because they were old, white, and armed, they were allowed to do it and when left-dems start yelling they just get thrown in jail
You're gonna act real fuckin' shocked with Lucy pulls the football away at the last second again, aren't you, Charlie Brown?
The next time Senate Democrats do something useful will be the first. The country is on fire and we're stuck with a posse of feckless, spineless, gutless, idiot clowns.

1. We need to fight hard for a good ACA extension early in December and hold Republicans fiercely accountable if they betray everyone.

“Guys let’s not focus on who fucked up let’s just move forward” is my absolute #1 biggest red flag in any business leader. Real hack shit.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

My latest at @comicsjournal.bsky.social: I talked to @oglaf.bsky.social! Not the character, but rather, the people who create it.
They don't do many interviews, so this was a real treat. They're funny people! Turns out they're not super private, just...really bad at PR?

Talking Oglaf with Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne: 'We'd stay up all night drawing stuff to make each other laugh' - The Comics Journal
Other than some time off every year for Christmas, Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne have delivered a new Oglaf comic, skewering fantasy tropes with absolutely not safe for work humor, every week since 2008...

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

judge ellis will go down in history as someone who valiantly defended the constitution, but i can't help but think that all of this begs the response "or what? lol" from the trump admin
Federal agents can only use force when it is "objectively necessary to stop an immediate threat of the person causing serious bodily injury or death to another person."
There must be two separate warnings given before force is used, Ellis rules.

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

it strikes me that TGAs are so arbitrary, so capricious, and so nakedly revenue-driven that I really can't understand why we put so much stock in them.

it should surprise nobody that "a behind the scenes parody of snl" was better pitch "the office but somehow even worse"
The reason 30 Rock succeeds years later while parks and rec has aged like a toilet full of milk, is that 30 Rock doesnt shy away from portraying Liz Lemon as an obvious villian with a victim/hero complex, whereas Leslie Knope was played just a straight hero character, even tho she is a neolib shill

being a lib in western WA is weird. king county was one of like two counties didn't swing to the right in the last election, and it achieved nothing and saved no one. plus all the social platforms have been tuned to make it feel like our neighborhoods are owned by far-right boomers. it's tiring.
