Purely from narrative design pov I think subjective FPP works well with '77 story, genre and world. You're a mind trapped in a decaying body with only means of leaving it being through technological consciousness processing (cyberspace; soulkiller; projection into external devices; braindaces)

finished a long overdue playthrough of Detroit: BH. overall very impressive if not somewhat uneven. great breadth of choices - and damn, those crime scene investigations with Connor SLAP.

but also, playing it NOW - the 'crackdown on androids' beats in Act 2 / 3 are eerily relevant--

true. and also particualrly tempting and difficult with cyberpunk. i mean... we're already living in it! tf else are we supposed to capture? (i mean i know - but it is a challenge)
Given the rate of acceleration and the speed at which culture can shift, if your game takes longer than a year to develop you shouldn't try to design around current trends or vibes. Don't try to capture the moment cause you'll miss it. Make a good story and setting you have confidence in.

TL;DR: making a game is a constant management and reevaluation of priorities vs scope, vision, quality and time. throughout this process as many things get added as removed.

i love Fallout as much as anyone but the show is losing me. it's not that funny, i have no idea what this story is about, what am i waiting or cheering for, plotting is messy, emotional stakes unclear, exposition dumps that lead to nowhere... it feels like a fan service checklist now :|

But as a little uno reverse i'll post a comment that i think captures well the expectation conundrum we found ourselves in. The game cannot be infinite. A little exercise for everyone - for every thing you'd like to see added remove something else (from a given aspect of the game).

false. it was never planned. every model is 'naked' underneath clothing because this is how our appearance system works.

it's the same myth as with Alex and Takemura. the fact that you can hit on them doesn't mean there was a romance path there. like in real life!
