ppl used to talk about posters madness on here a lot and i think the reason u dont see that anymore is because all of u have it and also bc mans fetishization of the machine has been succeeded by the fetishization of man by the machine

Excellent, damning analysis of the video of the killing of Ms Good, from the NYT, including a quick debunking of the “evidence” the President showed other Times reporters last night.

An analysis of footage from three camera angles shows that the motorist was driving away from — not toward — a federal officer when he opened fire.

Kinda sucks how one day you’ll post stuff like “does the Grinch use the toilet?” and then the next it has to be “I reject those who worship death”

Oh no I'm on an Elliott smith kick, I have too many responsibilities for this kind of mood

When people do this, what are they expecting to happen? Has anything like this ever worked? Is it just to feel like you are "doing something"?

My daughter has informed me that scallops are "too scary"

Reading a report that our series have a lot of fans in Brazil. But no one has ever told me, "come to Brazil" so I'm feeling left out

Can someone explain how, if everybody was on vacation, I still have hundreds of emails and slack messages waiting for me?

Took 13 years to get permanent residency in Poland and I had the backing of a major local corporation and had to marry a polish person to get it.
It’s cute when non-Americans think we can just leave the country and move somewhere else to escape all this, as if their governments haven’t also made their immigration processes just as cruel and slow.

Texas A&M has historically been a great school, I have a lot of fond memories of the place (not an alum, but family who were) and it's such a shame to see their leadership jumping face first into censorious reactionary insanity. It's always had a tendency towards right politics but this is different

The drop off between the first cheevo in Terra Invicta (and the second is huge. 20% of players start a new game but then don't do the very first move (that the game explicitly tells you to do)

I mean it's not really unusual but I do always think these stats are funny

This is a real ui panel from terra Invicta

Do you want to know a quick way to get a lot of excess stratospheric aerosols? It'll make you wish you were patrolling the Mojave.

I want to play more terra Invicta but my laptop charger died I guess the aliens win
January 5, 2026 at 10:39 PM
To belabour this point, one of the best things that makes me love terra Invicta so much is that there's a clear vision and a commitment to it. It's not a perfect game, there's a bunch I'd mod if I was inclined, but it knows what it wants to do and then does it. But this game!
The scale of the game is huge and unique. Nothing else like it. This feels like someone's "dream game" and it makes me so happy when one of those gets made.

Ok terra Invicta is 1.0 and I promised/threatened to talk about it so here it goes. It's been a long day, I've got a cold, and I am not pre-writing or proofreading any of this, stuff; you've been warned.

1/whenever I get tired of this

I want to be posting about terra Invicta but everytime I try I just write 30 rambling messages. I really don't have the focus to write anything, these kids have cooked my brain and I have a headcold. Suffice to say it's great, one of my favorite games of all time, despite huge flaws.

Cyberpunk 2077 is not a "hey, m" game and if you think it is it's because you didn't play or don't get the meme

So would extending Act 1 (before the heist) in CP77 make the game better?

1. No it wouldn't. It's like saying we should spend more time on Tatooine with farmer Luke before he got involved with all this Jedi stuff.

I've been cracking eggs multiple times a week for 40+ years and I still don't have the hang of it. Routinely fuck it up

I've been guilty of this and I hate it, every time I do it I regret it. An odious trait.
Returning to my perennial advice to folks on social media:

If your first interaction with a stranger is to disagree, maybe think about why you're interacting with them at all and if you find that is a pattern in your interaction with strangers, maybe think about it others seek new disagreements.

Finished stranger things, quality of the show overall was mixed, but I like it when a scifi show gets to end on its own terms, so I'm counting it as a win. Overall pretty much enjoyed it, and definitely one of Netflix's better showsm

Going through an airport last year, pushing my 1yo daughter in her stroller and she's laughing and giggling, widely thought to be one of the most pleasant sounds a human can hear. A passing woman looked at my daughter and then at me and gave me the nastiest look I've seen on a non-pole and groaned.
You don’t have to want kids or even enjoy being around them. But it’s also worth unpacking why kids simply existing, learning, or having unmet needs reads as “annoying,” “unlikeable,” or “bad behavior.”

This collective discomfort with noise, need, & vulnerability is why many ADULTS are struggling.
